I had a very nice shave this morning with the ATT Atlas R2. I'm not ready to post in the SOTD thread as my photo skills pale in comparison to those who are posting - I admit, I am intimidatedSmile

In any case I prepped with mrglo then lathered with Leviathan using a Fendrihan house brand silver tip badger brush and proceeded to shave with the R2 loaded with a Viking's Sword blade. The R2 is the OC model and I was surprised and a little fearful at the amount of blade exposure but not to worry, the shave proceeded without mishap or loss of blood. It is an efficient razor a tad on the aggressive side but left me with a BBS shave. finished with alum followed by cold rinse and Leviathan splash. I can pick up the coffee in Leviathan more clearly in the splash than in the soap - I think Leviathan is one of Barrister&Mann's best soaps/fragrances, IMO. I'm going to try the R2 with an Israeli Red blade tomorrow and see how that goes.

My initial concerns about the sharpness of the grooving in the handle were unfounded as it was unnoticeable in operation. Its a very nice razor and it is often mentioned in the same breath with the Wolfman. They are both fine razors, however, I see the ATT as a finely machined tool while the Wolfman is a piece of art. The Wolfman is as finely machined but the fit and finish is superior. That stands to reason given the differing business models that ATT and James are using and , as such you can buy a ATT today while a Wolfman, who knows when you can get on the waiting list.

Its a great time to be shaving.

Congrats! Glad you enjoyed your first shave with the R2. Post a photo in the SOTD thread anyways, we all started somewhere.

Marko, two things about SOTD posts.  First, it is not a requirement to post a photo with your SOTD.  As an example, I don't believe Jerry (slantman) ever does.  Second, I really cannot take a decent picture most of the time and if I do, I haven't a clue as to what I did correctly.  However, free photo editing software on the internet can truly flatter a so-so photo without taking away from the SOTD that you are trying to let everyone know about.  It's fun to play around with it and if you don't like what you created you can simply cancel (or "undo") it and start over.

I agree! Some of the community really post some beautiful shots: well composed, processed etc. Most often I barely find time to take a snapshot and post the image.

I do love seeing people's gear though and would certainly appreciate your contributions to the SOTD Marko.

Nice piece of machinery. You should've gotten the H2 as well, it is an awesome razor as well.
