I've read some of churchilllafemme's great articles - and perhaps he'd have an opinion here, but what are some aftershaves that are commonly available that have some longevity?

I have a number of the "classics" that are widely available and cheap, but find that most lost their fragrance after a few hours. Same with most of the fragrances I've bought from artisan suppliers.

I do have perhaps more oily skin than "normal", and perhaps I'm not "doing it right" when I apply it. Basically I shave, do either alum and a water rinse, or Thayers Witch Hazel, then aftershave, then a balm on top. Sometimes I'll splash on some more aftershave post-balm. Maybe I'm not using enough. I'm not trying to get to "strong", but more longevity.

Thoughts/ideas? I searched and read around, but didn't find much on this one, so apologies if this is a dead horse...

Thanks gents!

If you get several hours from an aftershave you are right in line with my experience.  One to four hours is about par for the course.  I generally look to EdTs and EdPs if I want longevity.  In my eyes, aftershave is meant to be a post shave tool that happens to smell nice.  Perfumes are the smell-nice products for all day.

Aha, well then I've learned something - thank you! I guess I always thought of EdT/EdP as the same as aftershave. Appreciate you making that distinction.

Fine Accoutrements, Historic & Oak, Gentleman's Nod, A&E, Zingari Man, and many others. Check out shops like Maggards that offer samples. Most Bay Runs will be short lived but Historic & Oaks Georgian Bay Rum has surprising longevity if you're into Bay Rums.

Aramis AS has a two year half life on the face.   Tongue

Pinaud Clubman & Brut are two other long lived ones.

I've found that Fine aftershaves have the most staying power of any aftershave I've used. For example, Green Vetiver is stronger and longer lasting on me than the actual fragrance it's a dupe of, Guerlain Vetiver.

Yes, Fine is long lived (their new Bay Rum excepted), but their two vetivers as well as their sandalwood AS's are out of production.

This is true and unfortunate. The old Clean Vetiver and Santal Absolut are my favorite scents from them.

Yes++ Santal was amazing. Sir Henry BTRC has captured the same aroma. Although not as intense.
