Good day all. I recently converted my wife to wet shaving her legs. It went great the first time then she skipped about a week and shaved again. She said there was A LOT of pulling and tugging and she got several small nicks. The only thing I could come up with is that the razor and blade was in the bathroom that everyone showers in. Maybe the blade got rusty.

I moved all the shave gear into the half bath for now.

What do you think about the blade situation?

Yes, some blades can rust and loose their edge really fast if not stored properly.

Also, without a good prep, just like men's beards, shaving legs can be uncomfortable.

There's generally a lot of surface area on a woman's legs too. Maybe the equivalent of 5 or 6 facial shaves? I think it's probably fine to toss each blade after one use. Maybe change the title to specify leg shaving and see if we have any women on the forum who can chime in.

Make sure that your wife is prepping properly.  Probably a towel with hot water should be used to go over her legs - DO NOT dry the legs.  Could do one or more times.

Also, she should not underload the brush -- for my face I load for about 30 sec; she should probably load for about two minutes.  I have found that the amount of soap on the brush greatly effects the quality of the lather and the shave.

I would also NOT use an aggressive razor.

She may also need time to learn the best angle of the razor during shaving, and remember to maintain it.  My wife asks me to shave her legs and I do it, no problem.  Sometimes she'll get a weeper or two.

With respect to my colleagues, I have not seen a blade get rusty within a week so that would not be my first concern.

Don't worry, it will  work itself out.
Cheers,
Ted

That's just the reverse of what my wife reports. She seems to go 6 months before changing blades. I have no idea how she does it.

Maybe it's the blades themselves or to much pressure?

Maybe it's time to try a new heavier razor like a 34c for example and try different blades. Also maybe she needs to do shorter strokes rather than long passes. Also it sounds weird, but the last YouTube video I watched of a girl shaving her leg she stated the importance of skin stretching and the right angle of drag. I'll see if I can find her YouTube name again. Hang tight.

Ritual Shave is her YouTube channel. Also Razor Emporium on YouTube has a video of a lady shaving her legs too. Check them out and keep us updated.

When I shave my legs, I prefer a Lady Gillette with Astra blades. I would suggest to take the blade out, keep it dry and put it back in just before the next shave.
