leaf razor - has anyone seen this yet?

Very interesting. Is gillette guard still your favorite head shaver?

for only having a single blade, the gillette guard is a damn good head shaver, but no, my favorite cartridge to shave my head is the gillette mach 3. the schick xtreme 3 isn't a bad cartridge either...it's slightly cheaper than the mach 3. I personally prefer the way the mach 3 head lays flat versus the angled head on the xtreme 3.

Carts I've only tried Mach3, Bic sensitive and Dorco Pace 4 (on headblade moto). Bic and Mach3 are incapable of digging in at the back of my head and other "difficult" areas. I had high hopes for Mach3, I even tried putting a finger on the head to give it a bit more power but no luck. The moto-dorco is the cart winner so far.
Safeties I've tried so far: GEM clog pruf, shick I1, Pal adjustable, Merkur 34c and ATT R1. So far the best safety has been the clog-pruf. Injectors are excellent for getting all the hairs around my ears but getting the angle right is uncomfortably challenging in some areas.
Right now my favorite set up is: GEM clog-pruf WTG XTG, HB moto ATG, Schick I1 around the ears. Not very practical and I need to touchup quite a bit after the ATG pass with the moto.
I'll try Gillette Guards, and Feather carts. Maybe others on the moto as the dorco 4 require too many passes/touchup for bbs and irritation glances in.

I have a headblade sport (I think that's the model). while it works pretty good, the replacement cartridges are a little spendy, and to be fair, I used it mostly when I was using a shaving oil for shaving my head. I should pick up a pack of replacements and try it out again with a slick cream or shaving soap.

I agree carts are easier on the head. I started with carts but unfortunately what I've tried doesn't cut it, literally.

The HeadBlade compatibility is quite the soap opera. Initially it was published and their are slowly controlling information and reducing compatibility as they put out models. Their carts are made by Dorco, so an HB3 is a Dorco Pace 3. Those are easy to get at lower prices.
Also, if your HeadBlade Sport came with HB3 (3 blades), then yes, it is compatible with Trac II.

I quote/paraphrase a post on HB3 holder compatibility from another forum:
Gillette Atra, Contour, Vector, Trac II, Personna Auto, Personna Duofit, Schick Super II, Schick Ultra Plus, Wilkinson Contact Plus, Wilkinson Profile.
They also sell a holder for Sensors that should fit your HB. (Sorry, no Mach3 holder). I don't know if the Sport takes an HB4/6 holder.

bumping an old thread here...

my wife was using my leaf razor for a while in the shower. she ended up dropping the razor at some point and messing up the alignment of the top black cap that covers the first blade. I sent leaf an email, asking if just that piece could be replaced/swapped or whatever and they ended up sending me a brand new one and a return label to send back the old damaged one - this was a razor I paid for, not something that was given to me...impressive customer service, I must say.

so since getting the new leaf razor a few weeks back, I've been using it to shave my head. I've been loading a blade in the 1st and 3rd slot, leaving the middle blade slot free so not to make the razor overly aggressive. my main complaints still remain: the head is large and the handle is way too thin, it easily rolls in my hands. I may pick up 1 of those pencil grips to try on the handle so it makes the handle larger in diameter and more comfortable to use...at least for me.

aside from that, I can't really complain about the shave itself. it's the closest DE razor that mimics the pivoting action of modern cartridges while allowing us the flexibility of using our own DE blades and adjusting the level of aggressiveness in the shave.
