Happy Hump Day Everyone! Today I'll be talking about a brush I recently bought from Landmark Essentails, (a.k.a /u/chiseledface) I'll try and go into a bit more detail than I usually do, consideriing this is more than just a 30 soap purchase.
The knot was hand tied by him, and the handle was turned by him as well. This is an "imperfect" handle, and so was sold at a discount through his etsy store. I won't link it here because I don't know if it's allowed. This is my first experience with a hand tied in America brush, my other high end brushes included a Kent BLK12, and a Shave Mac Oppus Summum No. 1, a 2 Band D01 brush.

**Literal 1st Impressions**
The brush came in a large pill bottle, and taking it out my first thought was, "Man this thing is dense." It's denser than my shavemac by a lot, and bigger too. The handle is beautiful in my opinion, and became my new favorite brush on looks alone. I'm calling it the "Mint & Vanilla Brush." The handle feels great in my hands, and I notice no cosmetic imperfections in the handle or knot. I play around with the bristles a bit and feel that it's a bit scrubby, but the face and hand almost always feel different. I don't get any of that badger funk, and in fact don't really pick up any scent at all. Putting it down, I notice what the imperfection on mine is, its not flat at the bottom so its a bit wobbly. This doesn't bother me as I have a stand, and once I set my brush down, I'm not going to be stomping around on the bathroom sink anyways.
**Performance**
As always, I build lather by loading with a relatively dry brush until i get a nice thick paste going, then gradually add water as I go. I let the brush soak while I was in the shower, and proceeded to load. I have absolutely no issue getting it to load, the decent backbone ensures I get a good amount of paste on the tips. This brush holds a lot of water, and a lot of soap. Whenever I finish on my 3+ passes, and squeeze out the soap, I'm continually impressed at how much soap I actually have left over. I don't have a problem with the brush releasing the soap, and don't feel the need to reload for more soap. It holds enough for 3 passes and touch ups, although again, I'll repeat, this brush is dense. Therefore, It holds a lot of water. If you get one of these brushes, make sure you get some of that water out or it could kill your lather. I just shake mine, some people wring, to each their own.
**Feel**
The handle itself is very comfortable to hold. It's bigger than my Shave Mac, but smaller than my custom Boss knot brush. I don't get cramps like I do with smaller brushes, and it doesn't feel awkward or hard to hold in any way. I have pretty normal hands, if that somehow helps someone.
The brush has good backbone, not stiff as a rock, but not floppy like a dong either. I'd rate it at 7.547 on the backbone scale, with 10 being a rock. That's perfect for me, it's got backbone but I don't feel like i have to push down or fight with it to get it to splay out. I don't get that scrubby feel I got when playing around with it in my hand, in fact it feels softer than my Shave Mac. It's not marshmallow butt like a synthetic, but it's close in my honest opinion. I'd probably give it an 8.114 on the softness scale.
It doesn't feel too big for my face, although if I had gotten anything above this in size I think it would be too much (I have a small face.) Be aware though, This thing has really good splay, so my 26mm feels more like 28, possibly more. If you're not used to these kind of brushes, I'd say go with the 26mm.
**Final Thoughts**
With this brush, I don't feel like I need to buy anymore brushes. I will, because sad, bad, rad, and all the ads, but I feel like I don't need them anymore. This is my new daily driver, my right hand brush. Would I buy from Ron again? Heck yes. Would I buy this exact handle again? Yes, I love the colors and my wife thinks it's really pretty.
