The case has magnetic closure and smells of mahogany. There are 4 rubber feet on the bottom to keep a sound footing as well.

I shaved this morning but couldn’t wait till tomorrow so I gave it a go. The razor shaves milder than the Ares, but that’s not saying much considering how hyper-efficient it’s older brother is. This is not a mild razor. It shaves exactly like how I expected the Overlander would shave. Some blade feel. Effective at cutting without any buffing. I would rate it as karve d efficiency with karve b comfort(with more blade feel).  The razor sings like my other efficient razors when you get the angle right ( which I found to be a generous range)

Finishing was a slight step down from the ares. No biggie for me as I can polish it up quickly this weekend. Also I do miss the blade posts sticking down through the base plate like the ares has.  It broke up the monotony of the flat bottom surface.  Especially since he took the effort to laser his logo at the tip of the post.  One final knock is the lack of substantial lather channels. It would benefit from it. A usual 2 second rinse with other razors became 4-6 seconds.

With all considered this is my favorite mid-aggressive shaving razor ever. Ideal aggression, and ergonomics as a daily driver for my face.
How will you polish and with what?

Lack of lather channels is one thing I found puzzling.  I guess later comes shooting out the ends which is...different.  I am concerned it will not rinse well in cold water.

Dremel with green jewelers rouge on a buffing wheel. Should take no more than 10 minutes.  The current channels are no issue for a wetter lather, but I like to overload and shave with a thick lather so its not ideal.

A quick polish later.  Also I’ve found that the lather channels are just fine if used a certain way.  I was trying to wash the razor from the ends. The intended way was likely to rinse from the face of the razor because everything washes away instantly.

Picked it up earlier today. Presentation and craftsmanship are top notch. Polish is better than my wolfie basic polish, and every thing seems to be precisely machined. The wooden box is awesome, and the razor fits much tighter than I expected. A perfect case for such a beautiful razor. First shave tomorrow morning.

I got mine today. I am super pleased with the razor. The finish is very nice. The contrast of the matte for the flats and ring at the base is striking. The Lambda symbol and lettering on the base of the handle, the symbol on the endcaps, and the etching on the bottom of the baseplate add a whole lotta class to the razor. I've never seen a baseplate/guard like this one. Has there been one? Watching lather funnel out the ends should be interesting. Seems like it would clog up easy.

Also, are these serialized? Sure seems to be. Mine is 21-031

The box is a extremely nice. The best I've seen. The branded wood is a great touch and gives the razor an elegant feet to it.

Razor feels great in hand. Balances well. The matte on the flats at the primary grip adds just a little bit more traction.

I'm extremely impressed. Glad I jumped. Thanks to the DFS user that raised the flag.

Prep: Splash of Water
Brush: Razorock Bruce
Razor: Lambda Athena
Blade: Gillette Platinum (3)
Lather: MacDuffs Soap Co - Whyte Saffron
Post Shave: Macduffs Soap Co - Whyte Saffron

Before I get to the shave let me say the presentation is amazing. The razor comes in a CNC machined mahogany box, lined with some type of soft protective material (felt?). You need to gently push the razor into the box and it fits tightly and securely. The box has magnets to hold it closed, rubber feet on the bottom, and is engraved with the brand and razor on top. The razor itself is high polished and engraved in multiple locations with the makers name, model, and serial number. Just absolutely blown away by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. All for around $200. Back to the shave, lathered up some Macduffs and went at it. The razor is definately mild feeling but very efficient. It took me a few passes to get the angle down, but once I did there was very little blade feel and it took down my two days growth very easily. Two passes left me smooth and irritation free. 6 hours later my face is still baby smooth. The blade is clamped very securely and has no chatter. The design is interesting as the lather exits the sides of the baseplate through channels. If you hit the front of the razor with water, it blasts all the lather and stubble out the sides in small streams. I had no problems with clogging. Im curious and excited to use the razor with a new blade, and some different soaps. Also to note, the razor was able to get under my nose very easily and into all of the crevices.

Living on the edge
Can anyone comment as to what WR2 gap this Lambda might correspond to?

Sorry if all my questions about efficiency reference Wolfman but its the only brand where Im
familiar with the gaps and what they do

Lambda Athena
Elite Cocobolo Fender w/B11
B/M soft goods
GD Preshave
1st use Feather

First run was amazing. 4 days growth. I ran it on a steep angle. Plenty of blade feel, it feels like a 94OC WR1 to me. Skin feels like it cut much closer tho, say a 145/155 WR2. Time will tell. I should still be smooth when I wake in 17hrs.

Lather does shoot out the ends of the head and it work very, very well. I cold water shave and went out of my way to try and clog it but was unable to. Rinsing under a running stream straight down the teeth is the key. The cool thing about lather flow is that there really is no lather transfered to the primary grip. Grip stays clean and positive. Smart idea, expertly executed in my opinion.

The detail and craftsmanship of the razor is top notch. Well branded yet subtle. You likely would miss it at first glance.

Just my first use but we really clicked. Athena is gonna be a great addition to the den.[Image: d475730404c59114430ab7d24a1aaba5.jpg][Image: 3e35e33891a3f1ae4b029869ccc89310.jpg][Image: d6c6e5429789e0bd33a2fb1e4abb34c0.jpg][Image: 4833ec8e0e51d93e3506b3395e0d767d.jpg][Image: 0b1e00544dadbd6782be1c547ef9bfab.jpg][Image: 43b7b301a444a7969e55bffe5129acc0.jpg][Image: 54e32c2f83872d79e6b06a3d3f0c06e2.jpg][Image: 5a83869000c4699ba9c936d502b884a8.jpg][Image: 29359dfb96dd109f5b88409c9a1109c3.jpg]
