According to his Facebook page…

Weight: 114gr
Length = 102mm
gap=0.4mm
exposure=0

He said it’s milder than his last razor. I’m not one to judge by numbers, but based on that gap and neutral exposure it looks to be quite mild.

His last razor was maybe the best
“straight razor simulator “ ever done
with a DE razor.
At least that’s what the rumors are saying.
There are only few DE razors that fall in
this category .

Not sure how mild the new one is.
But quitesure that the blade gap has everything to do with
effective range of “angle of attack” ,
especially when “floating” in a “neutral riding”
when shaving ,where all three points ( cap lip ,blade edge & guard or comb teeth ) are either in contact with the skin or easily alternating between a cap lip -blade edge contact
( aka “riding the cap” ) and
a blade edge -guard one
( aka “ riding the guard” ) .
R41 has a blade gap of 0.3 to 0.35 mm
( tolerances due to base plate casting ).
Quite close to the Athena ‘s one,actually.

But R41 has a blade exposure ranging from 0.25 to 0.3 mm
( tolerances due to top cap casting ).

So yeah ,I can imagine a very small window
of angle of attack , almost a ”clicking ON” attitude when in the right angle ,but unable to shave if otherwise,totally OFF .
Same like with R41 . The (not-so-unique after all )feature of «ON-OFF» shaving angle -tiny-range.

But a neutral blade exposure ...
If this is not a typo ,
then it should be quite interesting
if it proves to be efficient too.

Neutral blade exposure combined
with a tiny angle of attack range ...
Hm...
I think that I might be missing something here,
nevertheless.
Can’t wait to read the first reviews !

No lather channels on the bottom of the baseplate, just out on the sides, interesting & unique design for sure!

This is correct, from what I have read, a few reviews pegged it as more aggressive than the R41 (for the Ares).

Looking at the new head, there is a nice arch with the blade angle. If it is smoother than the R41, and has similar efficiency, I will be very happy.

The guy testing the beta version stated it is still aggressive but easy on the face. He was told the maker was going to tweak it to be more mild for the production version. We shall see!

The Ares had more blade feel than the r41, blackbird, or P076. Maybe a sailor at 7,8 or the taiga maxed out. And Even more blade feel as the exposure is much more positive than these razors. I sold mine for this reason as it’s too effective for a daily shaver.

Theodoros, the artisan, said in his own words to me” This razor is very mild but more effective than Ares, if you can believe it... “

He also stated he will make more ares models in 2022. It’s a phenomenal package for the price point. For those who ordered, once you get your hands on this razor you will know what I mean.
