Knives, Swords, and Sharpened Steel

Love my Benchmade knives. They're pricey, but I got hooked, so there's no going back for me. Use a Mini-Griptilian as an EDC, at least when I'm not at the office. They have a strict policy on knives. My old job was the total opposite, they got pissed if you didn't bring in whatever new knife or gun you just got to show it off.

But I've been a knife fan since I got my first little Buck folder for learning how to tie my shoes way back when.

I also carry a Benchmade every day. I think its the Griptilian but I'm not sure, but its an awesome knife. My wife got it for me as a gift. I'll have to post a pic later. I also carry my Grandfather's old Leatherman multi tool on my hip as well. I love having access to a screwdriver or pliers whenever the need may arise.

I really know nothing about knives but do keep three around.  I guess they'll never win any prizes but I like them.  Ironically, the one I use the most is the tiny multipurpose Leatherman, on the bottom of this photo.  It sits in a drawer in the living room and that little blade is so sharp that it is great for cutting off string or heavy tape from packages I might get delivered.  Of the two Kershaws, it's the smaller one that gets more use.  In fact, I have no idea why I purchased the larger Kershaw (which isn't that big) except that I like the way it looks.  Not exactly the best reason to own a knife.

Man, I'm going to have to show my daughter this thread. YOUR daughter gives you some EXCELLENT gifts!

Nice utilitarian collection.  I have a few Smith & Wesson folders laying around. Decent blades. Take a good edge and hold it reasonably well. I don't carry them for the same reason...nearly impossible to open one-handed without loosening the hinge so much it becomes floppy and dangerous. Good blades to have stashed in a glovebox or saddlebag, though...

I have an original Leatherman and an original Wave, as well. Very cool multi-tools. The straight blade on my Wave broke off about 10 years ago, but the rest of the tools still serve their purpose. I have a micro, as well...it sits in a drawer in the bathroom...

Well I see Amy commandeered my account. She has quite the collection.  I acquired knives in my collection by admiring knives in her collection. Then the next gift-giving occasion and I get the knife.  

Not to hijack your thread away from blades but since you commented on both Leathermans and gifts I thought I would show this.
Amy gave it to me for Fathers Day last year. A Leatherman tread. Coolest Father's Day present ever.



Every bracelet link has a box wrench in the center and 2 tools on each end.  It also has a 1/4" socket drive, a can opener and a cutter to open packages.


You simply hold the bracelet to get the tool you want to use in position.


I wear this all the time. Even if I have the Skeletool in my pocket.

Nice knives Freddy. I like that little Kershaw. Looked up the 3100 but it is no longer available. Wouid be a good pocket carry.

So there is MY knife collection. Apologies on not remembering all of the names. Yes, it is ever growing, and I constantly have about 5 blades on my wishlist.

My daughter loves it too. I am not really sold on it. I could play with the mechanism all day just opening and closing it.
But as an EDC it is hard to get out of your pocket. That being said I wouldn't turn one down if she gifted me one.

BadDad great thread! I'll try to get some pis up next week - I'm heading in for shoulder surgery tomorrow so I'm going to be out of commission for a bit so it may even be week after next.
