I’ll get a chance to use my Karve sometime in the next few days.

Well it's been a long wait since Sept 29, 2019, Black Friday until February 19, 2020.

Like others here I put my order in for a Polished SS Razor. The site said, 'Add To Cart', so I assumed it was ready to ship. I don't need to tell y'all the rest. You know it too well.

You'll recall I was furious a few weeks back when I went to the site and saw standard SS and brass razors and parts for sale. So I wrote Chris the 'you're no better than a common thief' email. I expected he'd give me a refund and tell me to get lost, but he came back with a conciliatory reply, assuring me I'd get my razor. Target date by March.

Well I got to thinking ... I emailed, requested he void the original order for polished, cancel the stand, add a complete SS razor with E, F, G SB plates, and an F OC. Refund me the difference in whatever extra was left over in the original order.

He did the refund, got my order together, and here it is. Going to shave with the E plate shortly. I'm anxious to see if the SS is 'better' than the brass ... I find it so with Charcoal Goods. YMMV  Smile

Just shaved with the SS Karve and the E plate. Quite good. I don't feel like it is better than the brass, but still have to compare the G, F, SB, and F OC for more consideration.

Glad you finally got it. Maybe this worked out for the best. The non-polished Karve SS is a very handsome razor. Personal preference of course, but I find that some razors just look odd when polished ... the Karve and the Home Shaving Start razors fall under this category for me.

I would be very Interested in thoughts regarding the brass vs the SS.

Yes, I went back to the site and was reading about the 'passivation' process for SS. Then I read some web articles on it. So if he polishes them he will remove the passivation protection from the exterior. Maybe that is one of the problems he is confronting ? I sent him another article I ran into on 'electropolishing' which polishes and passivates at the same time. We'll see. TBH, I have a buffer, and some experience with metal polishing. One thought I had was to polish my own. After doing the reading on the passivation I figure I'll call it good as is.

My SB F plate from Black arrived the other day. I tossed it in a drawer and haven’t really thought about it since. The whole experience just left me felling kinda meh...they finally got around to shipping it maybe at some point I finally get around to trying it. No excitement for the brand and I can get pumped up about even the most basic things shaving related when they arrive.

I was impressed with my first shave from my Karve C plate. Very much so. The geometry of the head seems to work well for me. Might be what I've been looking for in a souped up Feather AS-D2.

Tonight I shaved with the brass Karve E plate (SB). I did one pass on one side of my face and switched to the brass G SB plate. The SS E plate was way better last night. Last night was a Polisilver, first shave, tonight the same blade (second shave) I don't know ... this wet shaving is very subjective. Someone else might have a different experience, and one shave doesn't make a definite conclusion ... but just making the observation. YMMV

I had something similar. B plate was too mild. D plate is good but face needs a break after 3-4 days, so left wondering what C plate is like.
