From  what I understand the first stainless will be the same design as the brass, then he'll move on to head designs that cover the tabs a bit. At the moment he's working on configurations of ss plates. He also plans to release a polished version.  I believe the first stainless will have the same finish as the brass. Sandblasted is my guess. I've also seen a prototype of a different handle.  Just a few points gleaned from posts and his social accounts. His instagram is Karve Shaving Company.

Maybe both is the answer

Especially if he is going to go to one that covers the tabs (my personal preference), I might get a brass one in the short run and get a SS one when I get polished and no tab exposure.

I read somewhere that SS is going to start at $200 so keep that in mind.

That seems pretty reasonable when compared to Timeless, ATT and Blackland IMO.

I do like the design of the CB, it would be a pretty easy buy for me in a harder SS at that price, especially if the new design had any improvements to geometry, rigidity, etc.

yeah but I don't think it's polished. Polish will presumably cost even more. Again, I'm not sure, this is just what I read somewhere. We'll have to wait till next week.

Thought I saw that but maybe not. I saw the pic that he put up with the 2 large matching inserts.

I tried my Rockwell 6c for the first time in a while... The shave was sooo smooth. Posted it elsewhere, so I won't go into horrible detail. I think On plate 3 it feels like the Karve A plate. My only issue is the Karve A doesn't get as close a shave as I like (Rockwell 3 is better).

Wondering if there's a trick to the A plate or if it's just not a close cut due to the lack of blade exposure (negative exposure). The B is awesome, and has been my goto. However it remains touchy against the grain, with a bit of pain... allbeit not horrible.

Any thoughts? I'm on the fence of picking up a 6s as a new daily shaver. I just think comfortable is so much more important. I just don't want to overlook something with the Karve first.

Thanks folks.

mrdoug well I ditched the Rockwell R6 for Karve. Rockwell was fine but I found it a little boring, and I'm Canadian so to the Karve. I've never had a bad shave with the Karve. I started with a B then moved up to a D that's perfect for me. How bout keeping your Karve and putting it away for a while. I did that with a timeless 95. When I started with the Timeless it was just too much. I think my technique has improved a bit and the Timeless is fine. I change blades after every 2nd shave. Use Proraso much of the time.
That being said some razors just don't click for us. The 6S is a great razor and I'm sure you'll be happy with it. The plates with the Karve are quite the same up to the D and E. I found using a C I pushed the C plate into something it couldn't do. I'd rather have something a little more aggressive and use a light touch then taking a bunch of passes in my neck area. Different strokes. As an example Nivea shaving cream is a favorite on BB. It's easy to get here, but after a couple of tubes it just didn't do anything. Shave with the 6C then revisit the Karve.

A school of thought that has worked for me holds that two keys to any great shave are proper angle and zero pressure.   This is just a hunch, but I think that idea holds exceptionally true for the B plate.  As you may know, the B plate has a 0.73mm gap and zero exposure.  (Gap and exposure data for Karve plates can be found here.)  If you are off by even a little bit in the angle, the blade may be higher than the hair during later passes, like ATG.  That may tempt you to press, and unless you are exceptionally lucky, the blade will encounter skin before it encounters hair.  I don't know if this is the crux of your ATG problem with the B plate, but it is probably worth considering. -- Good luck!
