Karve Shaving Co. A new DE Brass razor to market.

I'm not sure I have much to add to the Karve Kudos, but it seems right to say something after the great - and I think exceptional - shave I had this morning.  In a nutshell, put on the OC-B plate and a Feather, sliced through four days growth like a hot knife through butter, and wound up with a BBS and great skin.  I am a bit taken aback with how well the milder B plate works for me.

I used to use a Rockwell 6c. My go-to plate was 3 or 4. I currently use the Karve (only have SB plates) B for smooth and C for a close shave.

Mind you, I have very sensitive skin and  very coarse (redhead) hair. So I can't tolerate the plates above this (sold my D plate for this reason).

Still, I'd feel the B is close to the 3, while the C is closer to the 4 or 5 on the 6c. This is just a ballpark.

I also bought the A plate after the fact and paid the extra shipping. Now I have enroute a B open comb, again paying the high shipping to the US. That's why so many people say buy all you can in the first order... it saves on shipping down the line.

I agree with this assessment. I also like my Rockwell R4 and prefer the Karve in a C plate. B is still good, but it's borderline too mild.

How do you find the B OC? Is it comparable to the solid bar C plate?

With a little luck It should be here this Thursday evening. As I shave in the evening, hopefully I'll be able to use it right away. If so, I'll try to get my impressions posted Friday morning for you. I have high hopes for that plate.

Well I received it early and got two shaves in. I promised my impression, however, as I absolutely don't like it I am going to defer to those who posted before me. I really am not an OC guy, I guess.

I'll probably put it up on the BST forum at some point. Sorry I couldn't give a review.

It has a very strong blade feel. I also didn't like that from the Razorock old type. This was more pronounced as it shaved closer to a C plate, which is the upper level if my faces tolerance.

Shaved with the SB-A plate tonight, using the SB-B for cleanup. Nice and smooth, and much more my speed.

Just a quick update on Karve what I've seen on instagram and reddit. Brass stand soon. Chris is working on a ss version of the Karve . From what I understand the first stainless will be the same design as the brass, then he'll move on to head designs that cover the tabs a bit. At the moment he's working on configurations of ss plates. He also plans to release a polished version. I believe the first stainless will have the same finish as the brass. Sandblasted is my guess. I've also seen a prototype of a different handle. Just a few points gleaned from posts and his social accounts. His instagram is Karve Shaving Company.

I havent decided if I want to get one of the brass ones or hold out for SS.

Maybe both is the answer :thinking:

The main thing for me is that we are talking about a Karve, but I must admit that covered tabs, polished, and stainless all appeal to me.

That seems pretty reasonable when compared to Timeless, ATT and Blackland IMO.

I do like the design of the CB, it would be a pretty easy buy for me in a harder SS at that price, especially if the new design had any improvements to geometry, rigidity, etc.
