I posted this on Instagram yesterday and will add to it here. I used my new F plate OC yesterday and I was extremely pleased! Chris has done it again with his Karve razor offerings. I loved the feel of the F plate OC as it was very similar to the SB. I like this OC just a bit better because of the “comfort curve” and overall coolness look of it. There is some blade feel but it still retains the extreme smoothness of the SB plate. I got an extremely close 2.5 pass BBS and I only feel a small amount of growth 24 hours later. No nicks, weepers or irritation. The feel of this OC is similar to the Timeless OC and Wolfman Guerilla OC. Both of those OC razors are extremely comfortable to use because of the curved combs. The Karve is more efficient than both of those though. I absolutely love this razor and I got the E and F plates just like I have in the SB plates. I doubt now that I will even use the E plate because the F plate is just that good. I used some brass patina developer on the base plates [Image: 134123ff1ece79fb61c0b94a707e8661.jpg]to give the razor a 2 tone look and love the results.
Happy Shaving!!

Nice work george1906 I've never experimented much with OC plates, probably because I was unimpressed with a Merkur OC, but the karve is a totally different animal.
Still amazes me that the Karve shaves so smoothly right up to the F plate.

Second shave with the Karve OC but, with the B plate the mildest one that I ordered. I had shaved yesterday with the F and it really gave me a superb BBS finish and stubble was very light this evening. Just enough to get a quick shave in and probably be done in 2 passes, if that. Well, let me just say that this was one very smooth and mild feeling shave. Yet, it removed the stubble very efficiently and comfortably. 2 passes and it was back to where I was yesterday. A very nice smooth feeling on my skin with a tiny bit of stragglers around the Sir Adam. But, that is always a problem spot no matter what razor I use. Most times I get it and some times I don’t. No biggie. The OC B was smooth and mild but, deceptively efficient. It somehow feels like a C SB plate but better. Crazy as it may sound but, it feels more efficient. I can’t explain it. It just shaves very well. As a daily this configuration of the OC B would be a nice combo for those quick, light stubble shave days. Impressive indeed.......

Skipped a day and got to try the Karve with the D OC plate for today’s shave. A great, great shave indeed. Excellent smoothness with a smidge more efficiency over the regular D plate. Feels just as good and perhaps even better than my E straight bar plate. Just a great feeling shave that made short work of 2 days growth without any irritation, nics or cuts. 2 passes that left me near BBS and a 3rd for touch ups that brought me there. Cleaned up around Sir Adam very nicely, better than the B plate on the previous shave. The D OC plate was a perfect bridge between the milder B plate and the bit more blade feeling F plate. All 3 are great and performed flawlessly from start to finish. But, the D OC is just about perfect for my whiskers. It struck the best balance of smoothness & efficiency between this trio. Whatever Chris did at Karve, he nailed the geometry on the open comb plates. Great face feel without any harshness for an open comb and as strange as it may sound, perhaps feeling a bit better than the Karve straight bar versions. I sampled an RFB and considered it to be one of the smoothest yet efficient razors that blended both qualities to near perfection. The Karve with the D just might have equaled it, if not surpassed it....

These two sentences perked my ears up. Very interesting observation. As always, nice review GlazedBoker!

Gillette British raised flat bottom (RFB) open comb razor. Perhaps one of the best open combs ever produced by Gillette.

The new OC plate is brilliant. The Karve with the SB plates B/C/D was already one of my favorite daily drivers, but the OC plates improve the experience for me in every way. Because the combs are so fat, it almost shaves like a hybrid between an SB and OC. It has all the smoothness of the SB plate, but quite a bit more efficiency for each letter. I am really enjoying this razor!

I picked up the B & C OC plates and agree it’s brilliant. Chris Kirchen produced an amazing product in the open comb.

There’s been a lot of chatter about the Raw-10, which I own, and other high end razors lately. Different designs but the Karve OC shaves better than all of them in my use.

2nd shave with the D OC plate. Waited an extra couple of days to really see what the D plate could do with 3 days growth. 3 passes as the razor and blade combo went through the whiskers like a hot knife through butter. Again, I can’t reiterate enough on how good of a balance this particular plate strikes for me. Smoothness, feel and efficiency is about as good as it gets. I’d recommend this plate to ANYONE from mild shave chasers to upper blade feel mongers. It is that good. Just an excellent and well balanced combination with this plate....
