So you guys take apart your razors, clean and dry after every shave? Wow

I usually do that once a week since I use a razor for a week before moving onto the next razor. Haven't had any problem with other razors, will report back on the Karve once it comes back from a loan-tour.

I had the same reaction. Wow. I’m impressed. After a shave, I just rinse the razor, shake off the water, and put it back in its place. Maybe that’s why I have water marks on my Karve...

But I’m a slob. If I thought my inattention to my shaving tools affected performance or limited life span, I would be more diligent.

My Karve is out on loan. Once it comes back I will check again, but as good a razor Karve is, if it requires anything more than my weekly cleanup procedure, it will hit the BST/PIF.

I started with a zamak headed razor as I'm sure many did and i figured there was more chance of harm to the threads by screwing and unscrewing the handle approximately 265 times a year then worrying about some water remaining. As I admitted above I have always just rinsed under hot water and at times used rubbing alcohol and then left out to air dry before the next shave.

The last razor that I recall getting attention like this was the Paradigm 17-4 and I had terrible results with that razor.

These might simply not be the razors that are compatible with your way of shaving. My Paradigm 17-4 would be the last razor that leaves my house, always BBS, no nicks whatever. But the BBS-1 for instance that is many peoples best razor didn't work for me.

I am in a similar place with razor care. I rinse, swipe the razor head across a dry wash cloth (opposite direction of shaving, as I don't want to shave the wash cloth!) on both "sides", and dry the handle. Blade stays in until change time. Every few weeks, I'll disassemble to clean with either microfiber or scrubbing bubbles with a soft toothbrush to remove any soap build up. I may try the alcohol dip, but I really just want to have a great shave before work without adding more time. As to the patina, after 3 weeks, the cap is mostly even colored, the handle looks shiny still, and the inside areas of the cap and baseplate are a bit more uneven, but not bad. Bottom line, it shaves wonderfully and looks nice, just different. Not all shiny, which is what I have come to expect, unless a razor is cerakoted or gun-koted. So I will adjust my expectations accordingly!

I will be comparison shaving for July, alternating my CB razor with my Slims, comparing one plate and one setting for at least 4 alternating shaves before changing a Slim setting. My feeling after 3 weeks with the B and C plates are that my CB razor shaves similar to my Delta Echo Slim with a feel of a lower setting and a closeness of one step up. But now I want to pin it down! So, shaving with a purpose other than a close shave! I think I must be crazy compared to 4 years ago when I just saw the shave one more thing to do before I had to go to work! Now I want to shave and compare razors, love the feel of the razor, the soap, the brush, and the post shave feel. Along with the first cup of coffee, shaving has become something I look forward to every day!

I finally received my Karve today with the D plate and 3 inch handle. I ordered it on May 29 and it was shipped on June 29 for those of you wondering about the current lead time. I'm really surprised that it made it to Georgia from Canada in 1 week, especially with the July 4 holiday.

I was able to shave with it during lunch and I'm not sure if I like it or not. There is very little, if any blade feel, which is a plus for some, but not for me. I find it harder to keep the right angle and keep from applying pressure when I can't feel the blade. The shave is smooth, but not quite as smooth as my standard gap Wolfman OC. I did not get any sting from the alum or my after shave, but I did start feeling some irritation a few minutes later. The D plate is efficient enough for me. I'm just not sure if I like the lack of blade feel.

I might do that. I want to give it a couple of more shaves with the D plate to see if my opinion changes.

Off this week and shaved 4 days growth with the E plate. Wonderfully smooth and efficient. D plate tomorrow. Really versatile and if one wants more blade feel the baseplates are reasonably priced.
