Not at all surprised to hear that about the Paradigm. That was my suspicion from day 1 when reviews started coming in. And that's why I never bought one (...on top of the ridiculous price).

Sorry to hear that. Are you able to try a different plate such as C?

Don't need to. I already can't feel the blade.
Just trying to bring balance to the hype.

I sold my E and F Karve. It was efficient but even with only shaving once every 3-4 day’s I experienced irritation. The spotty brass finish also made my OCD act up.

I did not get along well with the 17-4, but the Karve D Plate has been amazing for me. So much so that I kind of consider the Karve the antithesis to the 17-4. Of course, it just goes to show that YMMV truly is a thing in the world of wet shaving.

As well, I dried my razor after every shave and it didn't develop any patina over about a month before I polished it. Since it was polished it has stayed shiny with no patina still.

Could you elaborate please on your experience/results and how it differs from most reports. I'm curious as this razor is getting a lot of "hype" but I'm skeptical as well. The last razor that I recall getting attention like this was the Paradigm 17-4 and I had terrible results with that razor. It remains to be seen how I'll get along with the Karve (mine is shipping currently... Fortunately he got mine out the day before he went on vacation) but it's going to be difficult to improve over my 7 Charcoal/Timeless razors!
Well... I nick myself several times every shave (doesn't happen with my other razors). Part of that is, I don't feel the blade so it's hard to tell what the "correct" angle is.
While everyone is talking about how nicely it polishes up, actually what they're not saying is how terribly it patinates. Here's mine, looks 50 years old but I've used it less than a half-dozen times:

That doesn’t look right. Disassemble, warm water rinse, towel dry every time and your Karve should be pristine.

Here’s Chris Kirchen’s own Karve with a beautiful patina next to some brand new brighter plates. Mine is developing nicely the same way.

+1. Minimum efforts maximum result!

All I do is wiping dry after each use. And I use it regularly!

How is someone relating a positive experience, “hype”? It seems like you had a bad run with the razor but that doesn’t mean others are “hyping” their experiences.

I have a 17-4, a very hyped razor. It was worth the hype imo. I have one of these on the way but haven’t used one. I don’t possibly see how it could be better than my top 2-3 de razors but I’m looking forward to trying it.

Now I will say that I don’t think I’ll be buying anything else from this company for a long while....
