You will, most likely, find that Plate D is not as efficient as your Timeless .95, or possibly your Charcoal Level 3.
I have Plate D and it isn't quite as efficient as my Blackbirds, but still a lovely shaver.

That seems to be the consensus. I think after mine is delivered and I Shave with it, I will probably want the E plate when it is available.

I've been using the Karve Shaving CB razor now for about two weeks and absolutely love it. It's starting to develop a nice patina and I've started calling it my "steampunk" razor. Everything about this razor screams quality. This is my first brass razor and I think that the folks at Karve have done a fantastic job with producing a high-end shaving instrument. I own several high-end razors: two timeless razors, a blackbird, sabre, and mongoose. The karve CB is fantastic and a razor that i will hold onto for a long time.

A couple quick notes:

- this razor is extremely smooth and comfortable. I currently own the B and C plates with a D plate on its way. For daily shaves, I've been using the B plate and find it quite comfortable and efficient. i like that i can pop in the C plate for longer growth. it produces just the right amount of audible feedback but with almost zero blade feel. i don't have to worry too much about proper technique/angle as it's rather difficult to draw blood with this razor. it's really a pleasure to use.

- is this razor efficient? absolutely. is it more efficient than my blackbird? No, but that's not why i purchased it. I wanted a zero-fuss razor in brass that looked amazing and performed well. I enjoy shaving so i don't really need a razor that can produce a one-pass shave. it's definitely more efficient than a razorock mamba, baby smooth, and gillette tech.

- i love the design of the handle and the grip is perfect. I personally like knurling. A razor that has the potential to slip out of my wet hands is a no-go for me. the handle allow for comfort and control.

- things i would change: although the top cap design looks lovely, i find it awkward to hold onto when changing blades and screwing on the handle. i fumble a bit when holding the base plate and top cap together with a new blade. this may be due to me having hands like feet. it's only a minor inconvenience.

if you're on the fence about purchasing one, remember that life is short and this razor isn't extremely expensive. this is a razor that you will enjoy and can pass down to your children.

Tomorrows shave will is shaping up. Nuavia Rossa. Rooney 2XL

Any recommendations for a blade?

MaxP I’ve had really good results with My Karve Razor w/ D Plate using Feathers. Please post back with your thoughts on the Razor. I thinks it’s a beautiful Razor and really like the Handle. Enjoy!

Well I'm two shaves in with a Lord blade. At the next change, I 'll try a Feather.

So far, I really like the razor. It's a bit heavier than I prefer, but the handle texture more than makes up for the added weight.

It's a well crafted razor. The thread tolerances are just right. The finish is first class.

And, besides all that...it shaves quite well. Two passes and a touch up or two and I have a DFS/BBS shave. Of course the soap choice helps. I notice that the brass has a bit of drag, so a really slick soap is a plus.

Tomorrow, the Karve gets a break. I received a Sabre today. I'll be trying it tomorrow morning.

For the money, it's a far better value than two or three high dollar razors I've owned and let go.

Congratulations, Max.
It is good to see you are enjoying the razor and I have to agree with you in that this razor is a fantastic deal. Great shaver for a great price. Shy

Just got my D Plate and had my second go using Iridium and I am very pleased to say the least. I really like it because it gives results without the burn...even using good tech with the other razors. The only thing I would knock on is the slotted cap. I would like to see it in an open comb, I think it would be comparable to the New Improved in a C+ if he got the comb comfortably shaped.
