It does have the sandblast texture. For me, personally, I don't really notice that in the feel. I had a Winning razor a bit ago, which had what everyone described as a 'drag/suction'. This, to me, does not feel the same.

That is not to say it couldn't feel smoother, and possibly glide better. But I have no problems with its current and designed performance. (YMMV, To each their own, So Long and Thanks for all the fish, etc etc).

First: nice Douglas Adams/HHGTTG reference!
Second: What mrdoug said is my experience as well.

I have been debating polishing mine with Flitz and some other stuff I have, as the glide is not like a chromed vintage Gillette. But I really don't mind it as it is.

Over on my other interwebz hangout spot aka "Lather Talk's" Discord app channel, the topic of the Outlander is a hot one. Many there call it the "GOAT". A recommended blade happens to be a Feather. I tried the Feather in my Overlander and can concur its a damn fine combo. It gives the Overlander a bit more PG-13 bite and takes you off autopilot mode.

Thanks for the tip!

I'll have to try a Feather in it sometime. Next order I put in at TRC or some such, I'll include a tuck of them.

I wonder if anyone has tried shimming it yet?  That's what I'd do to get a closer shave in fewer passes.
Two shims under a Feather blade turns the Star DE and Gillette Tech into one pass shavers.

I have the Winning razor too, cause of its wavy finish I've wet sanded it and polished with paste.
I wouldn't say that the razor started to glide like it on ice,the contact area is still the biggest I've seen.

Used the aluminum with a feather for 3 passes today. This razor is very capable, and the more I use it, the more it pushes into being a keeper. Weighing it against my Blackbird, and Tritok R-52 now.

They're back. Just got this email from Karve.

We’ve got another batch of brass Overlander razors and stands ready.
They’ll be added to our store today at noon.
