I have the General and to date have tried the Kai milds and the Feather Pro Guards. The Kai milds were ok but certainly not great. The Feather Pro Guards on the other hand have been fantastic. I got 14 nice smooth shaves on the first one and am now up to 5 shaves on the second one. It is a very smooth blade - no cuts, nicks or weepers. I have yet to try the Feather Pros I have as the Feather Pro Guards have been so great to shave with. Just my experience of course YMMV.

Looks like a trip to Try-a-Blade is in my very near future...
Chris, I just tried a Schick Proline P-30 blade in both my RazoRock aluminum HAWK and my iKon El Jefe artist club razors and, so far, this blade easily tops other blades of this type that I have tried. I shall be on shave 4 this morning in my HAWK. When you place that order with Try-A-Blade why not get one to give it a whirl?
So, I went to Try-A-Blade, and they have 11 different AC-style blades. So I ordered the "one of each sample pack". Now, hopefully they are individually marked so I can tell which is which...

I have ordered from TryABlade and each blade is stapled safely into a cardboard sleeve with the Try-A-Blade logo on one side and the name of the blade on the other. You should have no problem, Chris. Here is my setup from yesterday and you can clearly see the name of the blade. I hope this helps. https://damnfineshave.com/thread-what-ra...#pid145523

I, for one, will be interested in your thoughts as I have been making the same journey. Right now, the Schick Proline P-30s are definitely my go-to artist club blade.

Thanks for that, I will repost once I receive and have given them a try. I found a vendour somewhere in Japan that had an excellent price and so I wait. In addition to the blades he/she/they are offering to send me whatever I want?? Strange but I'm up for a platoon of Ninjas to do my bidding and a katana to seal the deal made by the oldest sword maker in Japan with the oldest steel he/she/they can find. Probably not what they had in mind, but never ask a 46 year old kid for anything he wants!

Too funny (and I won't even tell you what a 71 year old kid might ask for ).
I only have a few of the Proline P-30s left and need to order. Would you be willing to say where you found the blades at a good price?

My pleasure! I hope I'm not breaking any rules and I actually have not received the order yet so I might just be sending you down the money rabbit hole!

WORD OF WARNING****if you do order, when picking shipping request the small package and not the default japan shipping. It's the difference between $5 shipping and $27 shipping.

You have not broken any rules at all. I shall take a look when I get home, and thanks.
Follow up on trying different blades. I received both the proline and the Kai titan mild. The Kai was my poison of choice today and all I can say is WTF was I doing struggling with the Feather Pros...
So...the Feather Pros are all gone, I bid them a not so fond farewell and happy trails. Will give the Schicks a try tomorrow.
Why? I used to believe the sharper the better. Not so much anymore. Less sharp but smooth (for me) is the great combination. It could possibly be my crappy technique, but let's be clear, it's mine, I own It and I have to live with it. Will it get better? Absolutely possibly not, but I'm back to "straight like" shaving because it's not the bloodbath it was with the feather Pros and I like the link back to the past straight razors gives you. I know this is a lot hanging on "a blade" but I actually got rid of my feather razor holder because the shaves were so bad.
What was old is new again.
