Nice pics. We get a nice variety of birds here including Cowbirds which my wife hates ever since she learned they don't raise their own young From the web below.....

Nature isn’t always fair …. Just the cycle of life I guess

I have a pileated woodpecker in the neighborhood rhat I've been trying to capture for years. I can hear his maniacal cackle but have only been able to capture glimpses of him. Really pretty birds though.

Maniacal cackle .... what a great description.   They sound nearly like a jungle call of some sort of chimp or jungle bird.

Speaking of Turkeys and Buzzards: A few days ago I spotted 6 Turkey Vultures cruising around over town. I first saw Turkey Vultures up close about ten years ago. I was driving past a nearby farm and spotted what I thought were escaped turkeys, possibly some relatively skinny heritage breed. They were just standing around at the foot of the driveway like they were waiting for the schoolbus. Then I did some googling and learned that they were actually Turkey Vultures.

Also this summer and fall I saw Northern Cardinals for the first time in my life (all of 70 years). There's a male & female couple that show up most days at our back yard feeder. My wife is especially pleased to see them because she grew up in Illinois, and Cardinals are the state bird.
