Old Shaver

(This post was last modified: 07-27-2022, 01:26 AM by Jayaruh.)
It's Jayaruh from North Cackalacky. I have been absent here for a few years. I thought I'd try posting here again. I use all kinds of shaving tools: single edge, injectors, double edge, straights, and even printed razors. I prefer vintage to modern, but I have a few modern razors, too. I'll jump right in. I usually choose one razor that I use from Monday through Friday, I use the Supply SE on Saturday, and Sundays are for lather catchers. I celebrate Menthol Mondays, Tabac Tuesdays, Williams Wednesdays, and the rest of the week I use one of my many soaps. The only soaps I have replaced are Mitchells Wool Fat, Tabac, and Williams. When I finish a soap, that's it. Oh, one more thing. I only use cold water for my shaves. I use hot water to clean my tools.

This week's razor is my Gillette Double Ring 1905. Today was Tabac Tuesday. Here is the shave.

Cold Water Rinse
Tabac Shaving Soap
Jayaruh #30
Gillette Double Ring
Gillette Silver Blue
CWR
Tabac AS

Last Friday I received a modified MMOC handle. I had cut it off and sent it to Greg in MI who threaded the handle and also made two threaded inserts that I can use on most razors. Here is the video I made of my first shave using it. I put it on my OC Damaskeene razor. It felt great, and I got a wonderful shave. I used my homemade Proraso stick and my Jayaruh #432 synthetic brush.

It's Williams Wednesday

Cold Water Rinse
Williams Mug Shaving Soap
Jayaruh #30
Gillette Double Ring
Gillette Silver Blue
CWR
Pharoah's Dreamsicle AS

The Williams Mug Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #30 badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with Gillette Double Ring Razor with a Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pharoah's Dreamsicle AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
