I just got my GC 1.05 in yesterday. Today was my first shave with it. I did a very easy 3 pass shave using a new Kai blade.

Very smooth razor and very efficient. I was honestly expecting more blade feel, but after one use, I would say the Lupo .95 sb has more blade feel.

I will keep using this razor for the next week. It gave me a very solid bbs and no skin irritation My plan is to use my Kai blade 2 or 3 more days, the. Try a Bic and 7 o’clock super platinum.

I agree. My first shave was smooth and efficient with the 1.05. I like the blade feel on it. I used a Crystal Platinum+. I am going to shave with it again today, then hopefully my next shave will be to compare with my Lupo .95 OC. I would assume there will be more blade feel to the Lupo .95 OC.

GrizzlyCA I know this isn't the best pic, but it would seem, at least to me, the Lupo has a bit more blade exposure.

metal_shavings , glad you are having similar experiences. My Kai blades are always most sharp on the second and third use. I will be curious to see if there is more blade feel tomorrow.

Please do let me know how your next shaves go. Also, Thank you for the side by side photo. That makes so much more sense. Given the top cap design, definitely more blade exposure. Thank you for doing that.

Not sure what other people experience, but the GC .84 is something I can shave with effortlessly and do not need to concentrate. The Lupo .95 is something I have to pay some attention to. My hope is the GC 1.05 is In between….

Yes, the cap design does seem to be geared toward blade exposure on the Lupo. The GC .84 is effortless, I agree. I do prefer a little more bite which is likely why the Lupo.95 OC works for me and I like the GC 1.05-P. I am curious myself to see how they compare. The .84 GC is not a bad plate by any means. A lot of people do and will like it. It does combine reasonable efficiency with smoothness, and is mild enough where you feel safe will and be safe if you do kind of drift while shaving! However, while I do like the feel of the GC 1.05-P, I don't feel that I have to be super mindful using it like I do with some other razors (though definitely a bit more than the .84). Hopefully, it will fit the bill for you.

metal_shavings thank you. I hope so as well. I do like a bit more blade forward as well. I will be curious to see how a day two Kai will feel. Those blades become much sharper on use two and three. Maybe I will get the bite I am looking for. Lol!

Happy Sunday all!

Yesterday, I had another great shave with the Gamechanger 1.05. I used a second use Kai blade which from my experience, is the sharpest use.
Here is my shave:
Shave: 3 pass shave with some extra buffing.
Soap: Grooming Dept Mallard Earl Grey Gilato
Brush: AP Shave co g5 synthetic

Definitely pushed the razor this time. First off, the blade was incredibly sharp. Absolutely no resistance where a more moderate blade would have skipped on my barb wire beard. I was able to apply some pressure on my xtg passes and did quite a bit of buffing in a few hard to reach places.
Results were complete BBS. I got two small weepers due to my extra buffing but no skin irritation.

My opinion after day two is this is a very smooth razor despite the increased blade gap. More to go on this. Today will be a third use Kai and this coming week will be a few other sharp blades.

Cheers all!

I agree it is very smooth despite the increased blade gap. The Lupo is smooth as well. I just did a side-by-side comparison shave, and this is what I thought:

Honestly, at least for me, it was pretty close. I felt that the Lupo was actually probably just a little bit smoother on the WTG pass, and the GC was a bit smoother going with the ATG pass. I did the same thing on both sides, two passes and some buffing, and the results are pretty much identical. Very little feedback when I used the alcohol-based witch hazel.Minor and very brief. When I applied the alcohol-based splash, there was no feedback whatsoever. Could I have done without the GC? Sure. Do I regret that I got it? Definitely not. For the little bit of money it cost it was worth it to try. and It will definitely see some rotation.

metal_shavings nice comparison! I like how you got down to even saying what was better on each pass style.
I regret to say that I pushed the razor a bit too much today and ended up with a nick and several weepers.
It was my own darn fault. I was over confident and was using a different soap than I normally do.
I need to do the side by side later this week.

GrizzlyCA thank you!!! I just wanted to use them side-by-side to see if I had a preference for one over the other since I liked both of them. I might likely be a bit partial to the Lupo, even if it's just in part due to the aesthetics. I still like them both, and both gave me the results I was looking for without any issues. I did get a slight Nick or a weeper (I'm still not sure which is which), but that was during the buffing stage and it was very likely my fault as well. I may have gotten a little bit too happy while I was buffing on the Game Changer side. Either way, you can't go wrong. They're both excellent and pretty similar in performance. They're both very efficient and smooth, comfortable shavers. I definitely enjoy using both.
