It galls me to admit this

I used Brute for the first time in about 30+ years, and I like it---and so did the leg shaver in my life.

I dont know if the formula is weaker, if I am using it in proper moderation, or it is a nice refreshing "classic" scent, but I am enjoying it.

Nice alcohol burn with a cool followup of menthol, and the scent stays for about 2 hrs then quickly declines. Probly half the strength of a Fine product.

I find myself using it after My TABAC shaves, and sometimes after CB Midnight Dreary.

I cant believe I am using it again since abandoning it the 80s, but something is different now, and I like it.

I bought a bottle several weeks ago. I find myself reaching for it too... I really did not expect to tolerate it either let alone decide to use intentionally... A couple good drops of it mixed with other stuff adds a certain depth that's really interesting. Feels like Aqua Velva and smells decent. Weird!

It used to make me sneeze when other guys wore it. I think you're right. It's not what I remember either. I bought my bottle at Target. Maybe it changed?

Yea Todd, I dont know if it's HOW I used it that changed, or if the makers toned it down so it could be used as designed, but it's growing on me. I am a sucker for dime store shave accessories and after multiple sniff tests I decided to break down and buy a bottle. I reminds me of Skin Bracer with less menthol, and a touch more scent. (difference scent of course, but you get what I am saying)


As a side note, I remember watching NHRA and the first time the Brute sponsored funny car staged and fired up, the crew had pour a few oz of Brute down each of the 8 header tubes. When it fired, a fine mist of Brut fell over everything at the starting line. After it made it's pass, people is the stands said they smelled it go by.I swore I could smell it from the screen of the TV as I watched.

The Brut on the market now is much more mellow. No where near as overpowering as it was.

I enjoy the scent of brut a lot myself. I can't recall if I ever used the aftershave but I do use their deodorant. in fact, I have one I'm about to start using soon..

I prefer the Brut "splash-on", which is the non-mentholated version. Reefpoint had a soap called Intrepid that was their version of Brut. Sadly it's been discontinued

Racing fuel, burning rubber and Brut, with a touch of the coconut sun tan lotion on the girl in the cutoffs and halter top sitting beside you. Does it get any better than that?

My dad wore Brut Cologne when I was a kid. That and Old Spice were the only 2 things he ever wore in addition to his deodorant which I believe was either Old Spice or Brut, as well.

I loved the scent as a kid, hated it as a teen. As mentioned that could be either a change in formulation, or a change in my use habits. I'm really not sure which...

Naturally, when I started traditional shaving, it was one of the first after-shave splashes I picked up. I use it quite frequently these days. I LOVE the way it smells, and it really provides a very decent post-shave experience. Not too drying or tightening, but a definite toning of my scalp, and the scent sticks around just long enough to put a smile on my face...

Brut was the de facto standard of the "reasonably priced" aftershaves.

Stuff like Hai Karate and English Leather was for the rich folks.

Nothing wrong with Brut. The fact that it still exists where probably thousands of other scents have come and go tells you something.
