i recently picked up this handle and was told it was a wolfman.  it looks like a wrh3 but the bottom looks different than other wolfman handles i've owned.  can anyone confirm that this is or is not a wolfman?  thanks!

I think yours is legit. Can you post a shot of the bottom taken at an angle ? Looking straight on it appears there is a ridge around the edge of the bottom ? I have 5 Wolfman handes, + a BBS-1, and none of them have a ridge. Sort of a smooth slight bowl shape. Here is a modified (by me) WRH3. The bottom is original as James does all I have. [Image: cDBJUKA.jpg]

it does not have the bowl shape and yes there is a ridge.

The ridge on the bottom is suspect. It could be an early handle, I guess. No handle of mine, from Jan '18 to present, has had a ridge on the bottom. Not even the 2 hollow handles I've had had a lip. Just a nice smooth bowl.

The profile looks correct, from a picture. Can you ask seller for bill of sale? Assuming he was original purchaser.

Edit. How does the mirror polish compare to your other examples?

I don't think it would be earlier than a BBS-1 and that, like all of the other Wolfman handles I have, has the bowl shape. No ridge.

Could it be a handle made by stork?

I've owned several, and seen several more Stork handles, and I've yet to see a ridge bottom like that from anything they've made, fwiw. Likely a not very helpful anecdote. I am curious about what the finish of OP's handle looks like next to, say, a mirror polished Wolfman anything else he may own.

The BBS1 was the first, no? There is no Wolfman prior to BBS1, AFAIK. I was just saying, prior to Jan 2018. I can't speak to period from BBS1 to late Wolfman 2017. I know there are Wolfman variations in that time frame that I've not held (no logo).

ALL of my handles look like the back side of a SweeTart on the end.

I don't think OPs handle is Russian. While they borrow very heavily from DuFour designs, they aren't exact in form. OPs handle looks to be exact in profile...odd on the end.

I'm wondering if DuFour would answer, if you wanted to bother his help by sending a pic and short message. Looks good though, kind of reminds me of the stand bottom, hmm, curious.

the person i got it from said that it is a oneoff that james made for some named Blackoff from Russia.
