Is $22 for a fat boy or slim a good price?

One thing about the Slim is that (at least in my opinion) you should have the doors open when you change numbers on the adjustment dial. If the doors are closed, it can interfere with the adjustment and blade alignment.

@Uzi, that is good advice and, as far as I know, it applies to all models of Gillette's adjustable razors (Slim, Fat Boy, Super Adjustable [aka Black Beauty], and Toggle).

Marko, that was the hardest thing for me to get used to with my Gillette adjustables (all Gillette adjustables have that feature, as far as I know) because I was used to my Superspeeds.  Once I realized that, no, I wasn't going to break the razor, that 1/4 turn lock became second nature.

Funny story. I had been used to the adjustable Slim. I tried tightening my red tip in the same manner. The blade became stuck, and there was a notable pop when loosening the adjustment. I used some lube oil on it and it seems to have gone away.

Lesson learned: don't torque the non adjustable razors!

$22 is a good price for a slim in good working order and with nice plating.   I'd say $30- $35 is probably what I'd pay for a fat boy if I was looking.

Thanks Freddy , the fatboy is the only adjustable I have, I suspected the others might work that way too but not sure enough to say so. I was a little nervous when Chris at Razorplate.com told me how to operate it - nervous I'd break that newly plated fatty! Fortunately it doesn't break that easily.

Exactly. I am actually sad I got rid of mine a couple of years ago for what they are demanding right now. I did pay $30 for an H2 slim shipped in prime condition, and $45 shipped for my birth year super adjustable in the same condition. Both are in really good condition. What it comes down to is what people are willing to pay though, I have a 48-50 Aristocrat in almost mint condition with the case that I paid $70 for. I almost don't want to shave with it, but then I remember why I buy them for myself. I don't buy them to sit on a shelf. I won't buy anything that I won't actually use. Tempted to buy a POS Aristocrat to shave with and keep the other one in the box though lol.

I have a few shelf queens during my SE RAD.  I kept my father's red tip super speed and I purchased my birth year adjustable.  But to be honest, I have more razors than I really need.  I shave with my artist club, adjustable and a few SE's.  22 for a Gillette adjustable if the barn doors are fully adjustable is a a fantastic deal.  For your enjoyment here are a couple of my shelf queens.
