Proteinaceous materials have a great deal of advantages in cosmetic products like Aion/Nai. I also run many of the ingredients through my fancy homogenizer which definitely effect the protein texture and its ability to penetrate the skin. Here are somethings I learnt form the cosmetic and dermatology papers I have been reading.

Contain amino acids
Quickly/readily bind to the stratum corneum
Some proteins promote other proteins proliferation - There are relationships and dependencies between Keratin and Collagen (which are types of proteins) 
Substantive film-former, Gives the lather increased density; protein is polymeric!

There is nothing wrong with your decision  This soap is not for everyone. Partially this soap is to show what's possible.

This proteins I'm using now (upgrades in the future will bring additional proteins) are manufactured very differently from edible versions.

I mentioned in the mailing-list post that Aion/Nai is a demonstration release of what's possible (for me). I'm not sure I want to sell this soap all the time. It takes 3 days, 5 hours each day to make it. It's not just soap, and I just don't pour other things with it! It's quite elaborate to make, some of the ingredients are porhibitly expensive since I can't yet acquire them in large quantites at wholesale prices. It's a very special release. 

some ingredients from Nai will be incorporated to the top tier formula, the price for those soaps will stay at $24 per 5oz.

I’m excited for everyone who got in on this release to find out their thoughts! While I didn’t purchase any I look forward to some of the ingredients making their way to my favorite bases ( hopefully unscented). Mohammad thanks again for always pushing the envelope!
