I’m not 100% sure but he did do the Short comb based on the Gillette New Short Comb and although a nicely efficient razor it is not in the same league as the I Tech . That’s the only guess I can offer. Maybe an email to the site unless we have a member who has both.

I haven't used it, but looks like Ikon Tek OC. 
I don't think it is like Gillette Short Comb, since he wrote it as aggresive razor.

CCity I prefer efficient or aggressive razors and have used many of those you listed (some with shims) without any issues. I have no issues with wide-open adjustables (take a look at a Futur on 6.5) or a shimmed Timeless 95, CGL3 or WR2 145. However the Ikon Tech is one that I have never been satisfied in my ability to get a smooth enough shave to make it worth my effort. Even "riding the cap" and using "smoother" blades has not been fun with considerable sensation of skipping or perhaps dragging - it is a humbling tool but one heck of a challenge. If anyone gets this new release is it the same as the "original" or what do you do to "tame" the iTech ?

I agree AJSharp . To me, the Ikon Shavecraft Tech is in a league of its own. I use my Rex Ambassador frequently, and have never used it except wide open at 6.5. In fact, I've never used any of my adjustables at any setting except wide open (Slim, Variant, Mergress). I find the Timeless .95 OC milder than the others (though I don't do any shimming), and the CG L3 OC first generation brass is my favorite razor.

When I had the iKon ShaveCraft 103 Short Comb, I found it to be slightly less aggressive than the Tek. The open combs on that one can feel sharp, though, making it feel more aggressive than it is. The key is to use a shallow angle, which can alleviate the prickly feel of the combs. It’s quite a nice shaver when the angle is right.

Blade feel gets a new definition with this razor.

It shaves good, but not in a comfortable way. It's like you feel all the anomalies a blade can possibly have. I hope you get what I mean.

For that reason, I sold mine a few years ago. To this day, I have no seller's remorse.

While I appreciated the end results, there was nothing enjoyable about the ITech except selling it. There are a couple of razors that cut as close, or closer, and do it much more comfortably. The ITech is not the king of the efficiency world it once was.

It shaves like shavette or a razor without bar rather than a safety razor.
I agree It is definitely not a smooth razor or not comfortable either. but I like how it shaves, so blade-forward.
