Just Here for the Shaves

I mean both were  very efficient/effective at removing 4.5 days growth in a WTG pass and a reverse WTG pass.

I agree for the price of entry the razor is a bargain.

On a side note when I get people asking me about the Ikon with fear in their words I tell them it’s a good razor to perfect your technique if your past the initial learning curve or in the case of seasoned wet shavers. It will keep you on your toes as far as focus goes if you start getting  to complacent.

Just my 2 cents.

Nice review Frank

Dragonsbeard  sounds like a good conclusion you've made. I always appreciate the shave offs you do.
When I got my ikon I felt very fortunate to have it, especially from all the things I heard about them

I bought a new head the other day.  Paired it with a spare WRH7 in solid Titanium. I was hoping there had been geometry change that made it better.  Unfortunately, for me, it's the same Beast of a head that I remember.  The BBS lasted 17hrs, so the result is respectable, but the journey is not my cup of tea.  WTG was acceptable.  XTG and ATG is no fun, at all.  If you enjoy a tool that will test the knowledge of your growth pattern and more importantly, your ability to safely use a DE, this is your huckleberry.  I have a handful of razors the deliver the same result, or better, and do it in a much more enjoyable manner.  It has it's place...just not my place. Ha!

Celestino, I was certain you would appreciate the Blackbird Jet laying around more than the 7 handle!

Both are great pieces of gear. Hope you are well, brother.

Oh, I noticed the Jet, but the Wolfman was attached to the Ikon, so...  Smile

All well and I wish you the same.

I have been sitting on the fence for a long time on getting the Ikon Tech , and this thread renewed my interest in it. I read the post from LOOT and so I decided to PM him to see if he really wanted to get rid of his Tech. Before I could even begin negotiating a price, he just responds by asking for my address. Shortly after that, he sends a couple of pics of his "loot" which included a later bowl and a bunch of good soaps and aftershaves. I had to continue looking at my soaps before limiting myself to just one.

Tonight was my first shave with my newly acquired Tech and I lathered my newly acquired GD soap. I have a couple of GD soaps, but not this particular formula. The Chinese Ti handle is mine.

Reading all the warnings on many other threads concerning the Ikon Tech, I decided to do my WTG pass riding the cap more than I usually do. Slowly I started adjusting the angle downward until I found the right spot. WTG went well. For my ATG pass, I started with the newly found angle and adjusted that slightly and went a little slower and more deliberate to pick up the stubble that was left over after the WTG pass. I usually finish off with an XTG pass along my jaw line and under my chin and found that for XTG, I had to ride the bar in order to get a real close shave.

After my first shave, I have to admit that this is one razor that you need to pay attention to. Yes, as mentioned before, there are other razors that are as efficient without needing as much attention, however I see this as one of my razors that remind me that when I shave, I do it just to have that 20 minutes when nothing else in the world exist except me and the razor.

thanks James.

Awesomeness. You are quite welcome Les, I hope you enjoy it for years to come. Ride that bar brother, that thing will cut you close. A Feather or a Kai in that head and you definitely need to be in zen mode with no distractions. Glad you took a liking to it.

The Tech is reserved for “no distractions day!”
