I've heard the deprecating term 'shaving geek' applied to 'us'. There is another community I once frequented 'men's clothing forums and blogs' and the also derogatory term of 'IGent' aka internet gentleman; that wannabee Beau Brummel with his copy of Alan Flusser bedeviling his barber to cut his hair just like Cary Grant while recording old Poirot episodes to check out spats and tussie mussys. That's o.k. by me. They've helped many men upgrade from duckbill shoes and black suits to a happy plateau. I was looking over several lately as I once again slowly try to rebuild my wardrobe. I'm considering a fedorah from Christies and spent another enjoyable two hours on blacktieguide.
What caused no little irritation are the cursory nods in grooming to shaving. You do not shave across or against the grain for fear of ingrown hairs. product mention is frozen circa 2000 and the lack of enthusiasm for the subject suggests an impatience to get back to the inferiority of pouchets without hand rolled edges.
I just shined my shoes for the week. I again laced in the crosshatch pattern I learned at five, not the cat's cradle system to produce straight across laces
bedeviled by odd number eyelets. There was a site devoted just to different lacing patterns I will not consult. I only own 7 ties, but by God I am covered for any event calling for one. I will be properly shaved too.

"Geek" used to mean uncool and socially retarded, but now more commonly means enthusiast.

IGent.... lol, that's funny! Being a gentleman is much more than being a clothes horse. Minuteshaver's post makes this point quite well. How come his name has a line through it anyways? I don't see any mirror and razor blade.

And on that news I double check my own behavior. If I have caused hurt or insult to anyone it was without malice and I ask forgiveness.

Oh, ok... That makes sense. Anyone who gets banned here has it coming. That is said on all wetshaving forums, but here it's actually true.

I have never seen you say anything trolling or mean-spirited, and am glad you are here.
