He absolutely goes on and on about it... Way too much. However, I do see the wisdom about supporting the artisans who have chosen to not raise prices (or are obviously sharing the burden by only implementing minor increases). He mentions Stirling. In the comments others ring in with makers like 345. I didn't see Sir Henry's mentioned (yet, I think I'll actually post it).

I agree though... This was way too much of a rant. I do like listening to him, though... He's usually a very positive YouTuber.

Edit: I believe Chris is really close friends with Rod and Mandy, and he keeps going back to Stirling. Maybe I'm reading into this too much... I wonder if they're having 'sustainability problems'? Please don't shoot me for thinking of it, but the horror if COVID killed Stirling?! I'm going to get some salt to throw over my shoulder and a lucky rabbit's foot or something. I always go too far... Damn!

A very simple minded view of things but in another thread, I shared some similar thoughts on prices. Generally in shavedom, if I see something that I want, I pay for it to get it. Very rare has there been something I've wanted but the price is what turned me off from buying something. In my opinion, I'm not sure what it's worth complaining about something being a few more dollars (I'm not being specific about anything) that it was before. I've spent so much money in wet shaving as well as how much product we all have sitting in storage so to speak. Someone else said this a while back and I have adopted this mindset. The most expensive items to me are the ones I would buy and not use. To me, we are talking about a few dollars when a bigger discussion can be had about how many of us have bought well into the tens of thousands or even a hundred thousand dollars worth of shave goods. Again, just one person's opinion. YMMV

I’ve seen some of that guy’s videos. He is always clean-shaven before he shaves. I just don’t find I could ever trust a guy like that.

Wow. Thanks to Dave in KY I see what you're talking about. That is a very angry rant. That's something else. I've watched quite a few of his videos... I didn't think he could be that angry. Lol.

Seems PAA got the brunt of his assault, at least by name. Not sure why. I understand the price is higher than many. Still, as he mentions several times... They have the 'value' crown king base. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Doug is smart enough to know if the market is in a bad way, he needs to offer more scents in / push the cheaper formula to keep sales going. They have been in business long enough to know what they're doing.

He also kept going back to the price hike at Fine. Unless I'm missing something, it wasn't a price hike. They had to switch formulas - find a whole new manufacturer. I assume that new soap ended up being more expensive. They had to price it where they had to price it, based on what they're paying. It certainly isn't a bump in price to their old formula, which is how he makes it sound.

I hope when he cools down, CBD (is it Chris?) realizes this.

The is an interesting thread.  I wonder what other areas of the economy customers thing they are entitled to tell manufactures what their prices should be.  Customers' role is generally to either buy products or not buy products.  The not buying usually signals to the manufacturers that something is wrong with their model.  If you don't like the product don't buy it.  If you think its too expensive don't buy it.  We saw the same talk around razors a few years back.  Accusations of gouging etc. - where is it written that a manufacturer has to sell their product at the lowest price possible?  They need to be profitable in order to stay in business and develop new products etc and if the demand for their product is such that they can charge a premium price and still sell all their product then thats great.  It means they're making a great product and if you want to buy it you pay the price.  On a closing note, what's up with prices of Ferraris??  It doesn't cost anywhere near that much to build those cars.  I should be able to buy one for a fair price -  around the price of a Ford Focus.
