Hello DFS,

I had an interesting "problem" this morning and I am looking for your take on it. How do you tell the difference between an SOC badger and SOC Mistura when both have the same handle? I chose the knot that seemed stiffer to be the Mistura. Both are new to me this year and had not been used lately, so the knots were almost the same size and shape. My thinking was that boar hair is fairly stiff when dry, stiffer than badger, therefore the stiffer knot must have boar fibers.

What do you think?

Yes, the Mistura is a much stiffer knot than the badger.

Look for the one with some split hairs. That will be the Mistura.
