Trying to survey what people like in terms scent strength. I have a puck of tabac sitting in bowl for the past year in a room, it's been lathered twice but still smells the same, with the same outward notes as the puck I use in my den! I would rate the scent at 10!

I also notices some soaps seem to have a more diffusive scent right off the puck (which I think distorts how strong a scent is) but they're assuring, in the same way a first manly handshake is Smile but some soaps only release their scents once lathered.

I like a strong scent. The balancing act producers have to face is making the scent strong, while keeping it from burning and irritating users. Tabac is big enough and has been around long enough to have that figured out. Having said that, most of us get soap from smaller, newer companies as well. They are the ones facing the balancing act.

I love a strong scent as well. For me it's a big part of what makes using all of these different products every day so enjoyable. What's the point of having a bunch of different scented soaps if you can barely smell them during the shave? I can understand the irritation issue as it's happened to me with a couple of products. I think that was more due to a specific fragrance oil rather than too much fragrance though.

Scent away!...

But one has to like the scent and be careful of those winter seasonal cinnamon type scents. I see that one come up quite a bit as a problem for skin.

BTW...just an acknowledgment to Mohammad for the free (fast) shipping on his soaps. This gent gets it!

I will always stay away from cinnamon and clove. There are aroma-chemicals (used in the perfume industry) that produce aromas that are similar to those spices.

Thank you for the plug. Free Shipping Forever! should be in my signature Smile

Agree with the others that I always look for a strong scent. I don't really care about a scent lingering after the shave (not that I mind it either). But I certainly do care about noticing the scent while lathering and preferably while shaving too. I have a moustache so I don't have it directly under my nose which is possibly part of the reason I prefer stronger scents.

There are maybe a couple of soaps I have come across that were actually a bit too strong for my taste. I also seem to have slightly sensitive skin, and certain soaps are not pleasant to use because of that. I’d say that I like a fairly strong but not overpowering scent strength, perhaps a 6–7 on a scale of 1–10.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Totally agree.

I also get cloyed easily , specially with Aquatic scents. I like a robust but not an overpowering scent.

With most things in this hobby I like to have choice because some days I want something lighter but most of the time I would say I prefer a more robust scent and wish more of my soaps were just a little higher on the 1-10 scale.  Like  beardybrewerhis may be because I have a mustache and goatee and/or the scents I prefer are naturally lighter and would require an irritating level of EO/FO to bump them up much higher.

If you're using Tabac as the scale, I would definitely say I prefer a strong/robust scent. I leave my soaps uncovered for 24 hours in my home office. I love walking into the room and being able to smell the soap. Wish more soaps had the "Tabac Power"
