Three for me. One with the grain, one sideways and a third that depends on the part of my face. Some parts can handle against the grain and some can't.

I don't press, letting the weight of the razor do the work.

Almost always 3 and some touch ups. Sometimes less, depending how sensitive I feel. I generally push on though since I hate having patches of roughness on an otherwise smooth face and neck.

Usually 3 with touch ups. I've tried moving to 4 with no touch ups as that's what seems to get me into irritation trouble. However, I've found that I still end up doing touch up passes, I'm hard headed. I'm currently using both methods. If I've had a bad shave I either skip a day or just do a very gentile 2 pass.

One pass, my neck is also very sensitive Sad I do a down stroke on the left side and an up stroke on the right, if I do a down stroke on the right side the way I hold my razors puts too much pressure and I end up cutting myself up.

Three with touch ups. When I was a lot younger and using cartridge razors, I couldn't do ATG passes on my neck without getting a lot of ingrown hairs, but that problem resolved with age.

Depends on the razor, but I can generally get 3 without any ill effects. Took me a long time to be able to get to that point, though.

I usually do three passes on my neck, but those passes are WTG, XTG, and XTG.  ATG seems to be a big no-no for my skin/beard combo.  I've only been traditional wet shaving for just shy of 2 years, so hopefully when I grow up I can be dolphin smooth all over instead of just north of my jawline. Until then, I will just be DFS to avoid traveling the "bumpy" road! Cool

My whiskers are so rough that if I don't shave well before wearing a button collar shirt, my neck will and down the inside of the collar!

I have the same issue with button collar shirts. My job (pharmacist) requires I wear a tie, and my shifts are 12 hours, so I need my neck to be smooth. Ok, truthfully, Iwant my neck to be smooth!  One WTG, one XTG, and touch ups as needed/dictated by growth pattern. I can periodically go ATG, but that way can often result in weepers and irritation.

Three.

With, With, Across.

Against if I'm feeling lucky or suicidal.
