How Many Passes Do You Take?

Usually three. If I'm using El Jefe, two.

Two with touchups

For me this is a two part reply. My daily shave always consists of three passes. I did not shave yesterday and I have a good growth but will still only take three passes this morning. I solely use an Above The Tie Kronos five piece closed comb set. My daily go to base plate is the is the R1. My wife and I occasionally go out in the evening. If it is a suite and tie evening I generally clean my face up by taking one pass using the M1 plate. This works well and one pass is all I need. So for daily use 3 passes; for those occasional evenings out 1 pass.

Firefighter here. I work at a somewhat relaxed department. You don't have to be bbs, but can't have anything that will interfere with the seal on your SCBA. That being said, a two pass shave usually does it for me, leaving just a little scruffage when you run your hand against the grain.

Now, date night with wife? Definitely a three pass.

I take 2 passes, plus any touch ups I need to take care of

I lather up once only and shave against the grain, then follow up with a splash of hot water and touch-ups as needed. This touch-up is the yardstick I use to measure the slickness of my soap. (Just for the record, this is how I learned that MdC is not slick and I won't be using it again.)

Usually two passes with a little cleanup.
