How long does it take you to shave?

I'm probably in the bathroom 40-45 minutes every morning, but that includes shower and everything else. I get up earlier just to have that "meditation moment" for myself. I never rush my shavings and I really building and working the lather until perfection before my 2-3 passes. This means getting up before 5 am workdays but for me it's at great start to a busy day with work and kids and all.

I usually take about 15 minutes for two passes and some touch-up. I'll try to shower and usually shave in the evening since I'm pretty grungy after a day in the shop. (Mike Rowe might have a little bit on me, but not much ) This is my time to wind down.

I'm enjoying reading all of the different perspectives on shaving time. I personally don't time my shaves, but I surmise they can vary anywhere from 8 to 20 minutes, depending on multiple factors, such as whether I'm using a new product, travel vs. home shaving, load times (that seems to be the biggest factor - sometimes, too much/too little water can add 2-3 minutes as I adjust or reload), and even condition of my skin on any given day. I've purposefully moved quickly through some shaves with my more reliable set-ups, usually including a Merkur Progress or any of the new wave of SEs (Hawk, RX, General).

The common denominator for me is that I truly enjoy the entire process, have clearer skin in the 5 years I've been wet shaving than ever before, and get the shaves I've always wanted but could never achieve with multi-blade or electric razors. Plus I have a supportive, informative and frequently downright funny community to share insights and experiences with. Who could ask for more?

I haven't timed my shaves. But being retired, I am never in a hurry. I shave slowly and carefully and mindfully, enjoying it. I would guess it takes me 30 minutes from first soak of the brush and soap to last wipe down of the counter.

Thanks for asking the question, the responses have been interesting and informative. For me, I have 2 shave times; one with a straight, one with a DE because prep-time is different. With a DE I'm in and out of the shave in 10 minutes, completing a two pass shave. With my straights I spend a little more time due to a different prep with the straight razors. So it is closer to 15-20 minutes, especially now that I can strop 100 laps in under 2 minutes. These times do not include my shower before the shave which adds 10 minutes to my total bathroom stay. While in the shower my puck blooms and my brush soaks. Once dry, I create my lather, wash my face with glycerin soap and apply lather, all this taking 5 minutes. It is funny for me to look back a year ago when a straight shave would take 30-40 minutes for two passes. Shaves today take 1/2 the time, but are still relaxing and provide me with a chance to start the day of on a most positive note that stays with me all day.

2 types for me. A me time with the 3 s'. Or the quick shave. Two pass with disposable razor and cheap cream. Then out the door. If I'm really late. It's electric time in the car! Lol

I keep my anacronistic, 23 jewel swiss movement 1955 Bulova away from water so any empirical number in unavailable and having no window the shifting shadows gives no clue.
I really need a Mr Bates with dark secrets if not a Jives and Wooster to bring a measure of order and gravitas to my daily routine.

A lot less than when I first started traditional shaving 7 years ago. If I remember correctly it took me about 3 years to get up to my current speed. A lot of that had to do with finding the right razor.

I seem to consistently be doing three pass shaves in 7 minutes these days. So far so good. Its interesting to see what everyone's habits are for shaving. I definitely would like to take my time more and enjoy the shave, but my desire to be clean shaven for work outweighs the desire for a more measured, lengthy shave. Only solution would be for me to wake up another 10 minutes earlier than I do but at the moment, this is working out well.
