Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but I'm curious how long it takes everyone to shave?

For the longest time, I believe it took me about 15 or 20 minutes to do a three pass shave but I was really wasting time, lathering too long, building lather too long, extra rinsing between passes. It got to the point where I no longer wanted to shave before work and I was shaving in the evenings.

A few weeks ago I really focused on trying to speed things up because I wanted a nice clean shave every day before work. I started loading for less time, building lather on my face for less time, and just added speed to my strokes and lathering process. I can now do a three pass shave in 7 to 8 minutes which is great for me.

Now if I really want to relax, take my time, enjoy the scent and experience, I have Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (work from home that day) to do that. Tuesday through Friday however, I want to save as much time shaving as possible.

How long does it take everyone else to shave? How many passes do you execute in that period of time? Additionally, do any of you have any time saving techniques you stumbled upon to make your shave less time consuming?

I am, rarely, in a rush as I get up early to have a relaxing shave. It normally takes me 15 minutes to shave, from start to finish.

Probably about 10 minutes. I don't go in much for any sort of "pre-soaking" badger or any sort of use of preshave products, etc.

About 20min. 30min if I am really chilling and forgetting about time. If I don't have time to shave, I don't shave.

Since I shave at night I'm not usually in a hurry so about 20-30 min.  Also I do not shower before I shave so 3-4 min. prep and of course cleaning up.

I only shave my head, so bear in mind that I have fewer difficult angles to deal with, but more surface area...

I shave in the evening, and I use a straight razor about 90% of the time. I use a scuttle for building lather. I soak my brush and bloom my soap while I strop my razor; 25 laps on linen followed by 25 on clean horse hide. I enjoy the process of creating lather in a scuttle. It takes added time, but in my experience, the more time I spend on my lather, the more luxurious it becomes.

Following my standard process, I expect 30-40 minutes for 3 passes resulting in a very clean, close and comfortable shave.

IF I ever get pressed for time, I switch to a DE or SE, which auto-magically reduces my necessary shave time by half--15 minutes start to finish.

IF I ever need to reduce time further, I can generate an acceptable head lather and do a 2-pass shave with a DE for clean and comfortable in under 10 minutes.

I do everything in my power to avoid being that pressed for time.

I never timed how long it takes, nor is it something I fret about. It's just shaving. Ten minutes, if that, for three passes.

Usually shave a night and take my sweet time, so 15-20 min if I'm milking it. And 10 min if I'm in a hurry.

It takes about 20 minutes for me to face lather, do two passes, and clean up everything after the shave. Building the lather is probably where I spend the most time; it can be easy to get lost in the process of trying to make ideal lather.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I only do 1 pass with touch ups and only shave below my beard line. I'd say 10-15 minutes from start to finish. shaving my head...well, that takes forever since I'm still new to doing it and finding which razor/blade combo works best for me.
