I am very much an amateur, but I believe that Aluminum is different... Poor for heat retention. It absolutely heats up quickly, but it won't retain the heat. At least, my razors haven't. Lol.

Brass on the other hand, to my uneducated experience, seems to hold onto the heat a lot longer than even stainless steel. Maybe it's just in my head?

Also, brass is strong and cheap... So it has a lot going for it. The tarnish it accumulates can either be the envy or the bane of your existence, depending on your taste.

You can always have brass coated, like they did with older Gillette techs (and Fatip still does... along with a dozen other vendors). My Overlander is sleek, shiny, and retains heat very well... Being brass coated in a mirror nickel finish.

I've only had one Ti razor, and it was sold some time ago. I don't recall it holding heat as well as the brass... But, my memory is kinda crappy.

Edit: After seeing Stephanos1920 post above, I am likely misremembering the Titanium. It probably did retain heat well. Nonetheless, I agree brass is awesome for heat retention. Additionally, I still think Aluminum is poor for retention.

Regardless, the big takeaway here is 'I miss having a functional memory'. Lol.

I dislike most titanium razors because I normally prefer a heavier DE razor, in fact I’ll always pick the heavier version over the lighter version - but also dislike titanium razors because of their steep price.

Long story short ,
every metal and alloy used for razor manufacturing have plusses and minuses .
None is perfect for every different each one
of us .Choose what you like ,let others be ,
be proud for your choice but not obsessive.

I personally like ol' plain stainless steel.
Robust ,durable,heavy,cold .

...Preferably the 904L alloy.

I'm glad you posted this Tester28 I just received the email from Carbon shaving and was looking for Stephanos1920 s post. 
   I was thinking when I read his post before, that sounds like something carbon shave might do considering the Damascus steel, carbon fiber and the like they have used. Good catch bud.

That is a very special razor.
Starting from the very special ss alloy
all the way to the "matrix" design of the baseplate.But $600 is a serious price tag also.

regarding austenitic stainless steel alloys
used for razor manufacturing.
We have seen razors from 303 ,from 304 ,
from 630 ( 17-4 PH  ) and from 316L .
This is the "king" of all austenitic stainless alloys : the 904L !
