This is going to sound strange but bear with me, it'll come together I promise.
Last year I ran across a formula for brass sizing lube. It was high purity alcohol, liquid lanolin, and scent if desired. So I mixed some up and sure enough it works great for sizing brass. But lanolin is a great moisturizer and it comes from wool. So I started using the mixture on my hands where it works great. I would consider using it as a hair tonic if I had the need. Heck, lanolin works for sheep hair, why not for ours?
Let me see if I can find the formula.
Homemade case lube
Ingredients:
1 TBL 100% lanolin oil (NOW makes one)
12 ozs 99% alcohol (HEET fuel dryer is one)
Optional: Add fragrance oil to mask the alcohol smell.
Heat alcohol and lanolin oil separately to 110°F in a water bath. Add the lanolin oil to the alcohol and mix and shake to mix. Add optional fragrance while it’s warm. Allow to cool down then add to sprayer bottle.
I buy the major ingredients, including the spray bottles, from Amazon and for scent I use some of the EOs from my now defunct Krampert's Finest business. If the purity of the alcohol isn't high enough the oil won't mix into it. How much water is allowable? I have no idea. But make a bad batch and you can tell us what doesn't work. I didn't play games with it and just bought 99% pure.
Try it and if it's too much oil just increase the alcohol to dilute it. Make notes.
