The razor arrived safely and I will be using it later this morning.  The Mrs signed me up for some crazy 5k Turkey-run this morning and as long as I survive that, there will be a START SS shave this morning  Wink.  Yesterday's shave was with a Timeless 0.95 SB so I don't really need a shave this morning.  But i do want to look and feel good for the day so I'm planning to use the 0.69 plate.  Thanks again DFS, CK89, and Homelikeshaving for doing this pass-around!

I wanted to write a few thoughts regarding the 1st shave before I need to head down for the festivities.  Otherwise, I'm likely to forget once the food overload hits me  Smile

I ended up using the 0.69 due to yesterdays shave being so close.  Plus, I anticipated it wouldn't be as close as a shave as I would like, thus allowing for more growth for tomorrow's shave.  I used MW soap and did three passes with no cleanup (again, wanted to have good growth for tomorrow).  Three passes with cleanup is my normal routine and I'm a daily shaver.  This routine generally gives me BBS shaves or very close to BBS.

Initial thoughts are that it was a very smooth shave.  But it seemed in order to achieve that level of smoothness, the efficiency of the razor had to be decreased.  As a matter of fact, I needed to cleanup my cheeks which almost never happens.  I'm not judging the razor at this point as I knew the 0.69 wasn't likely to work for me.  But for anyone who prefers a mild shave (ie original Razorock Mamba), the 0.69 plate would be good to have around

Greetings

Another info post about Taiga razor and some photos from the factory.

In the future Taiga made several major alterations.
Balance.
In the experimental version, the balance point was 22 mm from the head. In serial, it was possible to shift the balance point to 18 mm from the head.
GAP.
GAP - the experimental sample was 0.69 - 1.5 if you look at the START. A serial will be 0.5 - 1.5 at the START.
From the start of sales, an additional custom handle from titanium will be available.
Minor improvements so far we will not talk about them now.

Where is the OC plate? Can we get some pics of the razor with the OC plate installed?

I only have just a .69 head and would highly recommend it for so reasonable price for people who prefer mild razors

I wasn't able to get a shave in on Friday so my 2nd shave was Saturday afternoon and was approximately 52 hours after my first shave.  Since I had two days of growth, I decided to use the 1.18mm plate.  Soap for the 2nd shave was MW Marrakesh, brush was the Grizzly Bay (26mm tuxedo knot), and AS was CL Bon Vivant.

There was definitely more blade feel to the 1.18mm but it wasn't harsh by any means.  It has been a long while since the Carbon pass-around but the blade feel on the 1.18 was reminiscent of the Carbon.  The WTG pass was smooth and mowed down 2 days growth with no problem.  The pass provided a decent shave...one that I could have stopped here and been ok to go out in public.  The XTG pass was similar in smoothness and provided me more confidence to leave the house with a good shave Smile.

Where I was very pleasantly surprised with the 1.18mm was on the ATG pass.   Again, very smooth even with some blade feel.  But my primary test for any razor is the ATG on the upper lip and mainly the right side.  The 1.18mm did very well on this test.  There was a bit of dragging but it was much and I would still rate the ATG on the upper lips as smooth.  After a three pass shave, I found the plate to be very efficient which was certainly the opposite of the 0.69mm plate.  I did have a couple areas which required some cleanup but those areas require clean on nearly every shave regardless of the razor.

Overall, the 1.18mm is a really great plate.  Very smooth but with some blade feel.   Yesterday's shave was prior to leaving for some Holiday festivities in town.  I am writing this approximately 17 hours later and I still have a really great shave going here!  So great that I really don't need to shave this morning...I'm going to because, well I love shaving, but also because I like to feel "clean" and smell good for church!  I will probably try the 0.90 SB and do a 2-pass shave.
