First shave was quite enjoyable and more than serviceable. I used half of a Gillette Silver Blue blade, and Ariana and Evans Asian Pear soap and splash.
I prefer mild razors and the Proof did not disappoint in that regard. I was able to get the BBS shave that I chase each day without difficulty. I concur with others in noticing that it was difficult to find the blade edge for lining up side burns and shaving under the nose.
I really like the aesthetics of this razor - it looks sleek and modern. The fit and finish on the razor the razor is impeccable. The cap magnet works well and leaves me confident that the blade and cap will not shift during a shave. The spring action, for me, was a bit stiff. I wonder if a slightly lighter spring would make the pivot action for functional and not require as much pressure to be applied from the shaver. I do, also, wish it was a bit heavier. I am keen on stainless steel.
Overall, on this first shave, I am pleased. The shave was pleasant and efficient and the razor looks cool. If I had to make a choice after only one shave, and didn't already have a dozen razors, and were in the market for a high quality razor that worked well, this razor would be high on the list.

andrewjs18 Could you please take me off of the list As I don't think this will be a fit for me. Thank you
Keith
Thank you for including me in this passaround, it is the first one I have been a part of. First shave this morning, I used a Nacet blade.
My primary interest in this shaver was for head shaves. Currently I use a Leaf for a simple easy carefree shave, a regular DE requires a lot more attention and time. Here are my thoughts comparing the 2 from this 1st shave...
I did shave my face with it as well, and it was fine. I prefer a heavier DE razor for my face, it feels like a cartridge razor.
Based on this shave, I am leaning towards buying the Proof for head shaving. I am looking forward to the next shave.

- The Leaf uses 3 half blades on a pivoting head (a very large head), the Proof is only 1 half blade on a pivot and a lot smaller and lighter. - easier and faster to load the Proof. While blades are not that expensive, it is 1/3 to cost for blades.
- The Proof is more maneuverable with the smaller head and being lighter all around - It made the Leaf feel clunky.
- The spring in the Proof is a little stiffer than the Leaf, it worked great for me on my head following the various uneven parts of my head. The smaller head felt like it was better able shave through the unevenness.
- The Leaf has a longer handle, which is nice for getting behind your head and down your neck at different angles.
- The shave from the 1 blade was easily as good per pass as using the 3 in the Leaf - I will watch to see how quickly the stubble comes back.
- The Proof was much quieter than the Leaf. The Leaf make a ton of noise head shaving, the Proof has some but much less. I preferred the less noise.
- Similarly to the Leaf doing a quick not very careful head shave (2 passes) with the Proof left no weepers or irritation, it was a very easy and good close shave.

Another shave this morning... same setup.
I noticed this yesterday but wasn't sure how to explain it so thought I would see if I experienced the same thing today - which I did. I needed plenty of lather (I am using Barrister and Mann Seville Shaving Soap) for the head to glide smoothly. If I went over a patch more than once or pulled through an area that has only 50% untouched lather the head had some stickiness to my skin, the friction doesn't feel good. Not sure if this is due to the razor clearing things away so completely in a pass and/or the head material or design not being smooth. It is not the worst thing on my head, but on my neck I didn't like it at all. Sticking and tugging at the neck where skin is looser than my head felt like it would irritate things badly.
I have a new soap arriving this weekend. I will see if changing the soap up make a difference.
I am still really liking the razor for head shaves, not my thing for face.

I definitely agree on the face shaving part. It worked great for my head, but I certainly prefer DE for my face.
