If you are looking for an AS balm with winter coming I have been using Pete’s balm for quite some time and it is great. Just a small dab and I mean small and it leaves your face very well hydrated and actually gives me a better shave the next day. I tried using it for a few days and evaluating my shave then I’d stop for 4 days and I noticed my shaves were just not as smooth. Just my opinion, but I highly recommend it as long as your not allergic to lanolin.

Thanks Shavemd !

For everyone else, if you purchase a container from my Etsy page in the next few days, I'll include a tub of two additional formulations at no cost.

That's three tubs for under $15 including shipping.

I placed an order for the AS balm last night. Can't wait to give it a try. I wanted to get some shaving soap as well but you were all sold out. Any idea on when you will have more in stock?

dabearis, I have soap - still learning how Etsy works. What size did you want - 3 or 6 oz?

Also, I included pre-shave oil as well at no charge. This oil is beneficial for folks that have coarse / thick whiskers. It's fine for others, though doesn't improve the shave and gets oil on your hands and other things. I included it due to your comments about skin feeling dry after using a straight. Give it a shot.

You may shave after showering. If so, wash your face with a soapy wash cloth when you begin your bath. Apply the pre-shave oil right when you get out. It doesn't take much. Start with 2-3 drops and adjust up or down as needed. You want to use the least amount to get coverage due to getting it on your hands and other things.

The reason it helps is because those with thicker whiskers may not get them sufficiently hydrated from the shower. I formulated it to both penetrate the whiskers for further softening and coating the whiskers to keep the hydration from the shower from getting away.

Thanks!

Wow Thanks Pete123! I will give the oil a try.

I had put the AS balm and the soap in the etsy cart but I got pulled away before I could complete the order. When I finally went to finish the order it said it was out of stock. Its all good now. I just placed an order for a 6oz tub.

I've used my Hendrix Classics shaving soap sample quite a few times now(very generously sized sample.) The soap lathers up very easily for me with moderately hard city water. I've found the efficacy of the soap to be very solid. Slickness and protection have been on point for me. The Barbershop scent is very pleasant and as others have said, it reminds me of Mike's Natural Barber Shop except maybe a little stronger in the Hendrix soap.

I was pleasantly surprised by an additional sample a bit ago in the mail along with a bath soap sample. Thanks, Pete123!

I'm sorry to be so late posting my impressions of the soap so late. Real life has been intruding on my shaving life a lot of late. It seems like one thing after another lately! Thanks again for the samples Pete123!

I'm loving the Hendrix shaving soap I recently picked up. I too have very hard water and it lathers up with almost no effort. That was main thing that stood out to me when I got my sample awhile back. The AS balm feels great on the skin. I really like the unscented formula that Pete123 included with my purchase.

After seeing all of the reviews and the great interactions here, I just jumped in and ordered a tub of the soap. Can't wait to try it!

Thanks.

So I've been using and loving this soap for a while now. I decided to try Mike's Barbershop, which has been compared as a similar scent to Hendrix.

Mike's is a great soap which punches well above it price range for protection and post shave feel. Still, I absolutely give the nod to Hendrix for their scent. It's a bit stronger (but not overpowering), and to me, slightly different (better). Keep in mind Hendrix is a bit more expensive, especially for a smaller tub, but it's a splurge well worth the costs, IMO.

Please don't close to shop on me Pete... And definitely don't change the formula on this one.

I learned of your scent oils to use with unscented soap, this is very interesting. I'm curious how much it might take per tub?
    Wake this thread up, maybe.
