Quick note to thank everyone taking part in this thread and reaching out to get a sample.

HoosierShave, thanks for the compliment!

dominicr, Thanks for the suggestion about the ingredients. I'll get them on the site tomorrow. For those with interest, they are stearic acid, water, palm oil, shea butter, coconut oil, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, fragrance

primotenore, I look forward to a feedback thread as well. I'll get one started once folks get their soap and have a chance to use it. It's important that folks feel comfortable sharing honestly.

Had my first shave with Hendrix Classics Barbershop soap today. Again, thank you Pete123 for the sample!

Initial impressions are very good. At first i had a little trouble loading but after adding some more water to the brush, the proto-lather built up very well. I face-lathered today and found the base to be nice and slick. There was enough slickness that I could easily do touch-up passes without re-lathering (I used the Rockwell 6S on base plate 4). Scent is nice...for comparisons sake, it is in the Mike's/B&M genre of Barbershop rather than the Stirling/Mystic Water genre. Which, for me, is really nice because I prefer Mike's Barbershop scent over others I have tried.

I just finished shaving about 10 minutes ago so I can't really comment on post-shave feel yet. I generally judge that by how my face feels in a couple hours.

Here is a pic of the lather after face-lathering and before applying for the 2nd pass (taken with my phone so quality is not great):

HoosierShave, thanks for commenting! It would be great to get some other folks to share their experience, sharing good as well as anything you don't like.

Hello Pete123 and everyone at Hendrix Classics.
I received my sample yesterday (thank you!!) and just completed my first shave.
While I am usually reticent about making product reviews after only one use, I will make an exception with this soap.
The soap itself is fairly soft. I had to use a knife to scrape it off of the wax paper and into my bowl. The consistency reminds me of Mystic Water. With a wet finger, I was able to smear the generous sample into the bowl.  I also put a few drops of water on the soap while I showered.
Loading was a snap; the sticky "proto" lather was dense. The face lathering was also easy. I did end up adding some more water to the lather, achieving a nice sheen. The scent reminds me of Mike's Barbershop. Very similar, indeed. (Good, because I am a big fan of Mike's Barbershop)
Now to the shave.
With a Personna 74 blade on its 19th shave inserted into my Merkur Progress set to 4.5, I had ZERO issues. Nice glide and slickness. Protective and cushiony.
Post shave is also nice. My face feels refreshed and nourished. One of my favorite aftershaves to pair with Mike's is Floïd Blue, so I naturally reached for it.
All in all I had a very enjoyable shaving experience thanks in part to Hendrix Classics. I look forward to finishing the sample and reading others' feedback. I won't give the soap a "rating", but I will say that I like this soap a great deal and predict many other shavers will feel the same. I wish everyone at Hendrix Classics the best of luck and hope your sales exceed your expectations. Thanks again for your generosity.

Hi Pete123.  I, too, shaved today with the sample you so generously sent and all I can say is WOW!  There is only one other soap brand I can think of that impressed me as fast as this.  Like primotenore, I did have trouble with the wax paper but, since I bowl lather, I simply put the soap in my bowl with the bottom paper still attached and had no problem.  Obviously, this won’t be a problem with a full size puck.  The soap was crazy easy to lather with my Stirling handle/Mother Lode synthetic knot brush and I would imagine that would be true with most brush hair types.  The lather produced was rich, creamy, and protective.  My STAR DE razor with a first use Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Platinum [Dark Blue] blade simply glided through the lather and I was left with a two pass BBS shave that was irritation free.  I found the scent very subtle but then my sense of smell isn’t the best.  However, what I could smell I found very pleasant and found that it paired nicely with my Caswell-Massey Verbena Cologne.  Primo enjoyed finishing up with Floid Blue so I think any number of mild barbershop aftershaves/eau de toilettes will pair nicely with this soap.

Congratulations, Pete.  Based on, admittedly, one shave, I think you have a winner on your hands.  Wishing you much success with this venture. Happy2

Thanks Freddy for commenting! I just put a sample in the refrigerator and will shave with it to see if it impacts the soap and how easily . The wax paper isn't the optimum choice, though being able to send it in a flat envelope allows me to do samples worldwide.

Honestly, Pete, mine wasn't a complaint but just an observation.  I preferred your thin flat sample to ones that come in extremely small jars that have to be scooped out.  That might not make a big difference to a face latherer but as a bowl latherer I found your sample easier to use.  I still think you have a great product there. Smile
