HELP selecting a timeless razor

The scalloped cap will not do anything to improve your shave, even Timeless will tell you that if you ask as I did. It's just cosmetics.

I may pull the trigger on a Timeless soon. It's interesting how the .68 gap of the Timeless is larger than the R series ATT but many say it shaves more mild.

Exactly...and a 0.95mm gap scares me!

I have noticed that the Timeless head design is quite similar to the ikon SC 101 head design. I'm only going by pictures of the Timeless so I may be wrong. Does anyone have both the ikon 101 and a timeless razor who could speak to the comparative performance of the two razors?

Hey folks. Just had my first shave with my new Timeless .68 (open comb, smooth head). Loaded a Personna Blue and went at it. Only one day's worth of stubble, but that's normal for me so it's a fair trial. I also have coarse whiskers and sensitive (weeper-prone) skin, so I'm one of those fellows to does well with a mild razor plus a very sharp blade.

This first shave was not bad, though not exceptional, either. By comparison my first go with the ATT M1 Calypso last week was dreamy, and sort of love-at-first-shave. In this case I did get a few weepers (I'll chalk those up to being a bit careless and needing to learn the razor), and found myself here and there doubting the angle even though, like the Progress which it resembles, the "shave surface" created by the head and baseplate is clear enough. I don't have any complaints about its whisker-cutting powers, and it may be that even this first, hesitant go with the Timeless left me closer and smoother than the aluminum M1. But right now, the M1 is just more fun to use.

I'll certainly keep using the Timeless and see how I adapt. I'm also already curious to try the original larger-gap baseplate too, despite not tending to do as well with more-aggressive razors.

Oh, and I should add that the finish, weight, feel, and overall production values of the razor are excellent. It's a beautiful tool.

Interesting. I read another reviewer on another site who was comparing the blackbird, timeless, and ATT (R1). He also prefered the ATT. I love my R1 and have an SE2 on the way.

I like timeless' handles. I wish Stan would step up his game in that department. They are a bit pedestrian. I guess I could mix-and-match.

After a few more shaves (both tackling two days' growth), I'm having a better time with my Timeless. It may help that I'm now using a Feather blade, which is always great (paired with a milder razor) against my coarse whiskers. I still miss the dexterity of a light razor (an injector, my ATT Calypso), but I got through today's shave in two passes without any weepers, and close to BBS results. The Santa Maria Novella certainly helped, too. Overall I'm happy to have the Timeless in my collection.
