DE’s and SE’s were ok but I prefer them on the face. Feather MR3, Hydro 3, Mach 3 are all great especially if I have a weeks growth.

Headblade MOTO S4 Stainless is my favorite even if I start with one of the above carts.

I’m back in Ireland on a short trip home and the MOTO works wonders. Compact and an amazing shaver.

To that you have to add that I like to test things. Right now I have a wedge SE razor from a passaround over at TOST2 and while I never thought of using a Rapide on my head Yesterday I decided to donit as I opened the package. It was a great shave!! I am surprised.

With that looong deviation/intro/context description, I’ll try a couple carts I have in line and come back to you with a more complete lineup.

if it works for you, keep with it!

I'm going to look into picking up a feather FII, feather MR3 and then some other 2-3 blade cartridge razors to see which one I like the best.

has anyone tried the micro touch 3-blade cartridge?

andrewjs18 I am in the same trial and error process. Off the top of my head(Wink) this is what I've used in order of preference.

1.Feather MR3
2. Headblade Moto with Dorco Pace 4 (same as the original blade)
3. Timeless .68 scalloped with gillette platinums.
.
.
.
7. GEM Clog Pruf with PAL blade.
8. GEM Clog Pruf with GEM SS blade.
9. GEM G-Bar with GEM SS
10. Merkur 34c with several blades.
.
.
.
13. Disponsable Gillette Sensor (2 blades)
.
15. Schick I-1 injector with proline blade.
.
20. PAL Adjustable with Chick blade.
.
. At this point I start with razors that can't finish the job on their own. The problem is going ATG 90% of the time.
.
25. OneBlade with a Feather. First 2 passes are OK to good. Going ATG it glides on top an cuts nothing.
.
27. Leaf Blade with KAI blades.
.
.
.
40. Gillette Mach3. Every pass was a disappointment.
47. Bic sensitive. Can't get a decent shave on a single section of my head. I guess the weight doesn't help.

In general I prefer mixed shaves, where I use a SE/DE and a cart does the hardest part of the job going ATG. I have hair growing very close to my ears and its hard to get. The best razor for detailing around my ears is the Schick I-1 so I use it almost every time I shave.

I have Feather FII and Gillette Guards on the deck. I also plan to try my luck with most razors I have.

At the moment, my favourite razor for my head shaves is a Frankenrazor: EJ DE89 top-cap + Karve Shaving Plate C.
For whatever reason, this combination works, beautifully, for me. I can't explain it as the aforementioned complete razors, themselves, aren't as comfortable for my head shaves. Some things in life are inexplicable. Smile

I tried the Gillette Guard and the Feather FII.
Both a bit of a let down to be honest. Gillette Guard is IMO the ultimate clog proof cart and other than the very cheap feel of the handle it felt OK initially. Then I got nicks on a couple spots, definitely not an MR3 or HeadBlade Moto smooth. BTW, I had a couple very very nice shaves with the moto this week. I think I shines on every day to every other day shaves.

The Gillette Guard has been a well regarded head shaver but I thought it was pretty awful. The single blade aspect was initially an attraction.

The Moto might come across as a gimmick to some but as lloydrm say above it’s great smooth shaver. If I have a week of growth I’ll start with something more robust but always finish with the Moto.

The plastic one is great but I love the stainless S4. Happy2

I need to stop procrastinating and buy some replacement blades for my headblade sport. does anyone have a list of compatible blades it can use?

the only thing I dislike about the gillette guard is that the shaves don't last as long as with the gillette mach 3, at least for me they don't. that said, I didn't expect them to when we're talking about 3 blades vs 1.

Halftime Razor anyone? Haven't tried them myself but some good reviews.

$14.99/2 sets, I don't know if there's a way to hack the system to use your own cartridges, they are sold as disposables.
