Definitely not, it should not be loose rattling in the container. You have a picture?

Dam it.
I was waiting for that one. Subscribed to the newsletter as well.
Hopefully more will be available in the future.

Quick update: Mo replied to me and confirmed this is normal. Otium has less water than other soaps and mine has evaporated most of it and that is a good thing.
Mo also warned against blooming his soaps with water... drier soap is better than wet soap for storage.
Excited to try out my first grooming dept shave!

Hi Pottertons

I didn't send anything about the IB shipment via the newsletter.

I got the labels for the next Otium batch for WCS. I hope to send it out late next week. Thank you for your interest.

Dry soap is better. The weight of Kairos, Nai or Mallard soap in a jar should be at a minimum of 114g. Most of the time it's anywhere between 115-130g. That's after extensive curing.

Most artisan soaps have water in them. If they're left uncovered for a while, one would notice a marked hardening of the soaps. By design, water evaporates quickly from the above GD formulae, I'm also using less water to make the soaps, and have doubled curing time. If you receive a soap similar to the above photo, please feel free to press it down to fill the jar.

The above GD formulae are designed to make dense, ultra slick lather very quickly, using only 2-3g of soap! Please don't bloom GD soaps.

That's great Mo confirmed it as, normal. I have Aion (the previous base) which I was comparing your Otium picture to. I don't have the new Nai formula, will be getting a tub when they become available again. With Aion, I leave the lid off as the harder it gets, the better it will be. Personally, I have never bloomed any Grooming Dept soap that I own, I really don't think it is necessary to do so.

I'm delighted you enjoy Aion, thank you for your business!

Interestingly, Aion marked the point when I started to harden the GD soaps and remove more water from each jar.

As soon as I move, and I have more space I want to push this design further, If one looks over the GD Instagram there are photos of hard soap puck-like soaps.

I design all GD scents to be resilient. I have jars that are 2 years old that I use often, I let them dry out for about 24 hours after usage, then cover, they retain their scents really well.

Your welcome Mo, its always a pleasure to experience your soaps. Yes, Indeed your soap scents are resilient. As much as I have left the lid off of my tub of Aion since I received it last November , the scent is very pronounced for a soap that is scented so lightly!
