A more voluminous lather can hold more water -- but whipping air into the lather for the sake of it is a waste of time. It looks cool, kind of that "lather porn" look, but it is creates too much friction to be optimal for shaving.

Shipping Update:

I have failed miserably in delivering on time. A disaster took place due to limited space. As the soaps were curing I ended up mixing the trays of 4 scents and now I have to sniff every jar to untangle the mess.

Joining my prior in-depth review of Grooming Dept Basique is today's... An in-depth review of Grooming Dept Mallard! It's even better. :O

Saw somewhere a post about how GD soaps are great for the skin and the difference is really seen after a few weeks of consistent use. I like the soaps, but I'm fickle and as an owner of a ton of soaps, it's hard to put together two or three weeks of daily use of one brand regardless of how much I like it. It'd be easier -- though still near impossible -- if those weeks could consist of both vegan and tallow formulas. Those who've experienced this kind of consistent use and seen a difference, is it consistency with one formula (maybe tallow) or is it consistent use of the brand?

The Brand.

I only know this because I’m down to GroomingDept and Wholly Kaw. There’s enough crossover of ingredients (Cupuacu Butter, Meadowfoam, Babassu etc) that the postshave is quite similar to me whether Mallard or Vegan. I use GD 8/10 times often in a row. I’ve noticed a clear difference in my skin especially as it gets cold here in Vermont.

I would use other soaps but they just don’t have the skincare that equals GD. I’m debating contacting Manuel for some new soaps but I’d just be buying those for the scents at this point. 

GroomingDept has changed the landscape when it comes to skin nourishing ingredients in my opinion.

The tallow works similarly but has two really special ingredients: Pomegranate oil and Sunflower Lecithin. The lecithin is a spectacular occlusive ingredient, there is quite bit of academic research on one of it's main ingredients: Phosphatidylcholine. But here are highlights

Thoe two ingredients will be in the balm along with some exquisite oils/lipds: Kukui Nut Oil, Borage Oil, Shea Olein and Sensolene!
