Couldn't decide which of the non-tallows to try this morning, so I opted for the Aether tallow soap.

Big wow.

The things that impressed me as most was how easy this was to lather, and the glossiness of the lather. It was super, super shiny. Very protective, not heavy, with a nice, protective post-shave feel. Excellent glide as well during the shave.

Superb performer!

Nice review. I'd love to hear more details about how this is experienced by those who have just received theirs. I'll live vicariously until mine arrives.

What do you get from the scent of Aether lathered? I haven't shaved yet, but my first thought was a peppermint patty. This is not a knock; just simply my first thought.

I don't have a very sophisticated 'nose' for fragrance. In the tub, I couldn't quite make out the scent-but when lathering, I definitely did get the mint notes.

Ha. I updated my post. Stupid auto correct. Unless there really is a "paper mint patty" that I don't know about.

Haha I was wondering about the paper part, I did think it was cool! I want to hear what gents think about the scent, I'm keeping mum about my thinking and what I tried to accomplish Smile

I'll report back once I've used it. I'd like to give the Yuzu a shot next.

Test lathered Voyage today. It produced lather almost instantly, even faster than MdC. It looked like the lather produced by Olivia, but with even more shine and a lighter consistency. Post shave feel was amazing. Felt crazy slick, but I have yet to test glide with a razor. Can't wait to try it again.

I used the new Grooming Dept Magnolia (vegan) soap this morning for the first time and wanted to share my initial impressions here.
The Magnolia scent is wonderful, and reminiscent of the heady smell of gardenias backed up by nice dry woody notes.
This new formula whips up into a fantastic silky lather in a mattter of seconds, is luxurious, and never feels too heavy. Post shave is really quite wonderful and the scent is lingering in a nice subtle way.
High recommendation goes to this soap.
I can't wait to try the tallow + duck fat formula tomorrow.

Great work GroomingDept
