I gave him the pros and cons of each version I tested. After shaving with v4.9 all I can say is, wow, the slickness is through the roof combined with a dense and thick lather that gives the perfect glide, cushion, protection and post shave. Combine that with Mo's pre-shave and you're in for a double treat. I wasn't sold on the previous versions but Mo was determined to make it work and as it stands I'm a buyer.
That sounds super!  I've been using Kairos 4.7 and its pretty darn good so if the ultimate release is even better I'm not sure I can stood it! But I'll try  Big Grin  I've been using Mo's pre and post shave products as part of my routine now no matter what the soap I'm using but when using the whole system - pre/GD soap/post it gives me an awesome shave and fantastic post shave feeling - my skin has never felt so good.   Happy2

There's been a few more adjustments since 4.9. It now features a super dense/slickness and ease of lather. The pre-shave is a given and it's become part of my shaving routine.

I shaved with Kairos 4.13 this morning! Wow. Good stuff. I think this is close to the final version.

This version of the soap is firm and loads really easily. 10-15 seconds of loading a 24mm badger was ample lather for a four pass shave. The lather produced with Kairos 4.13 is a little more cohesive than the earlier versions. For example, when shaving with earlier versions the lather would tend to drip off my razor as I shaved. With 4.13, the lather stays on my razor as I shave and doesn’t drop off until I rinse the razor.

Slickness is amazing. You can buff all day long with the residual slickness and not worry about irritation. The post shave is really comfortable and needs to be experienced to believe it.

I find that this soap lathers very differently from other brands. As you add water when you lather with your brush, it doesn’t foam up and get airy or bubbles; it just transforms and builds into a ridiculously slick and dense cream. If you accidentally put Kairos 4.13 on the brass door knob in your bathroom, you will never be able to get out.

The other thing I forgot to mention about Kairos. It is a great soap if you are in a hurry to shave. The lather is not finicky or difficult to build. It is slick with a little water and it is also slick with a lot of water added while lathering. Conversely, if you are one of those shavers that likes to take 15 minutes building their lather with tiny additions of water, Kairos will reward you too. I have done it both ways and was very pleased.

I can’t wait to read other shaver’s reviews of this soap base.

I have been lucky to have been included in the later testing of Kairos. I tested these soaps with no pre/post products. 4.9 was exceptional! Slickness if off the chart, both primary and residual. Slickness and post shave is better than any shaving product I have used, period. My one criticism to Mo of 4.9 was the soap lacked a bit of lather structure. I originally called it "thin" to which Mo was surprised. I read another review that stated this observation better. The soap was extremely dense, but lacked structure. This was by no means a negative for me, just an observation.

4.13 was everything that 4.9 was and more. The structure issue has been resolved. I lathered in a bowl with a pea sized scoop with both versions. This soap can definitely handle a ton of water! The lather was rich, dense, shiny, and voluminous! Again, the shave was outstanding. I am a straight razor guy and this soap provided an exceptional three pass shave. No nicks or weepers with either version! As I am typing, my skin still feels great!

When Kairos is released in it's final version, do yourself a favor and BUY SOME! I have not wanted to shave with any other soap since receiving the sample of 4.9! Awesome product!! I hope the scents released are as fantastic as the base!

Mo, you have knocked the cover off of the ball here my friend and thank you again for sending the samples!

First off, thanks to you and the other reviewers for keeping us in the loop.  I have really appreciated that.

Second, could you please say a bit more about how you lather?  I get that Kairos is tolerant of different approaches, but do you typically wet load (à la "Marco's Method"), dry load, or what?  --  Thanks in advance.

The way I have been loading Kairos is to soak my badger brush then squeeze or shake the majority of the water out.  Then load for 10-15 seconds.   I then face lather by painting it on and then swirling with hydration by dipping the tips in water a few times.
I haven't tried the Marco method with Kairos and I don’t think it would work well.  It is hard to explain but Kairos turns into a dense cream on the face as you lather and add small additions of water.  It isn’t like Martin de Candre that explodes into a thick fluffy sudsy lather.  Kairos, as water is added and swirled in a brush, grows into a dense and luxurious cream.   You gotta try it.  I think GD is in final production now and perhaps a week or two from dropping.
