Grooming Dept. Rejuvinating Serum

I decided to order anyway since the only way to really know is to try it out myself. In any case, I will reply here to let you know my experience once received. It has not shipped yet so not sure when that will be.

I received the RS in vetiver scent today and have the following comments:


1) Comes in a nice glass bottle with equally nice cap. There is a flow restricter that limits the flow to one drop at a time. It was slow going but that was likely due to sitting outside in 30F degrees and I used it shortly after bringing it inside.  

2) I used a few drops on both sides of a wet face, even put a few drops of water on the fingers after adding a few drops of the oil. The serum absorbed quite well and quickly into the skin. The face feels nice and soft after applying and did not feel or look oily. There is zero stickiness or tackiness.

3) About two hours later and much of the same. Face feels soft, no stickiness or tackiness, and does not look oily. To the touch it does not feel oily but there is a bit of shine on my fingers after rubbing my face. I am a night shaver during the week so we'll see if this gets transferred to a pillow. Right now this is not a problem, just an observation.

4)The scent is mild. After applying it is noticeable when moving around but sitting at a desk reading DFS I dont smell too much of it. The scent dissipates completely after and hour or so. I like these scent qualities in the serum.


Overall, I recommend giving it a try. One bottle will likely last a long time.

I thought there ought to be one, as without a restrictor, it is difficult to get the recommended 3 - 6 drops without wasting product. On the plus side, a little does go a long way, and it is very effective. I do feel something on my skin - something good though, subtle and not oily. The serum does for the most part “disappear” quickly. What’s left is skin that feels good and not at all dry, and there is more than the expected resistance to dragging a fingertip across it.

As for scent, my nose is a poor detector, so the fact that I did not notice much counts for little, but at least it counts in the “mild” direction.

I have only used the unscented formula but I love this product and I really didn’t think I would. My wife uses it as well and it out performs products that cost twice as much. It’s a wonderful winter product. Will see if it’s needed in the summer.

I'm glad you two raised the subject Kehole and gregcss, and the humidity angle makes sense, but I still wonder how much of the story humidity tells.  Mind you, I am speaking as someone who knows nothing about skin chemistry, and who has had the occasional irritating summertime shave.  The warm weather things that come to mind are sun, wind, and general outdoors stuff.  As you said though, we'll see.

I believe it will still be quite usable at smaller amounts, even in humid climate. Especially if used with the upcoming alcohol free after shave, which has a couple of complementary ingredients that will aid in increasing the absorption rate of the serum.

Based on experience with brutal Southeast summers (heat and humidity), use shave balm year-round and suspect, at least in my case, will be same with serum provided it works as claimed.

I Have been using the Unscented and Lavender for a few weeks now and have had good results. Sometimes I apply a light balm afterwards and my skin is quite happy. As others have mentioned, I find that the scent does not linger for a long period of time. Which is good, because strong, lingering scents are not my thing. The only difficulty I have is getting it out of the bottle; the flow restrictor works well; that's probably a good thing.
