who else uses mostly or all Vintage Gillettes?

That is me, and honestly I personally do not see the value in somecof the ultra prices modern offering.

I use Tech, super speeds, and a Slim adjustable, they all give great shave, with a decent blade.

What you think?  Am I on target, or Just sippingVintage Cool Aid

I have a plethora of vintage razors. It doesn't have to just be Gillette as there are tons of other makes and models that shave even better. I also have modern ones too. Modern and Vintage razors both have their advantages and drawbacks in different members minds. I think everyone should just use what they want and not worry about having a right and wrong "camp" or worrying about what other people "think". Just my thoughts.

I am not a DE guy but I notice that the vintage DE razors seem to have very thin and small heads, whereas the modern ones seem to have big, fat thick heads. Now I know that some guys like Thicc and I am not knocking that, but it seems to me that the slimmer, smaller heads would be easier to get unto tight spaces, under your nose, etc.

Also I think that the old razors just look better.

The Vintage Gillette's Shave well, the question I always ask self, could a Modern High Dollar razor do a better job, then any of my Vintage Gillette's.  When Il already am getting a great Shave, I think not.

Got it, you're asking questions without really wanting an answer because you've decided already.....not really a "humble" opinion. Glad you have what works for you. Why not leave it at that ...

Yes, yes they can. At least for me anyway. I've tried many, many different razors including vintage Gillettes and haven't kept a single one of those. I'm not a collector so I only keep razors that work well for me and I enjoy using. All of them happen to be modern except for my 3 vintage GEMs. It all goes back to YMMV as always.

Regarding vintage razors, I think many are very beautiful, even if they were made to complete a utilitarian task. Likewise, some modern razors have that same aesthetic. To your point DesertIguana I am like the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, siding with both as better AND both as worse! (How's that for wish-washy?!)

What I mean is that for me, like others have said, it truly is a varying mileage thing. I have had bad cuts from both vintage and modern. There are razors in both camps that leave my face raw and irritated. And there are razors in both camps that could easily be all I need and are a joy to use, leaving me clean and refreshed.

Here are some photos of razors that I've had and used. Some are still with me because, like Dave said, they work for me and I get a satisfied (if not a smug feeling of superiority!) when I use them. Others have moved on to guys that can better appreciate them than I can.

(But I think, on average, the vintage razors have more works of art than many modern razors. Let's just keep that quiet for now  Cool )

I must say that one of the modern design that I am very impressed with is the Tatara adjustable DE. The sliding base plate mechanism is very clever, it is compact and the design is appealing. I think that they make an SE too?

I think of them as "Gillette got it right the first time".
Well, except maybe for the Old Style. I find them (and the repros) a bit harsh. Maybe it's something to do with the (thicker?) blades they had back them. The jury is still out on my 2 Goodwills
My faves (in my den) are the Slim, Fat-Handle Tech, and Long-Comb New. I think I got the last two at a flea market.
I particularly like the weight and balance of them.
