Gillette played their cards close to the vest on this one making it available only via ordering on their website (and perhaps a few select others), but I just saw it today at a Target store in the shave section. It's merely their brilliant Gillette Guard made in India with a different novelty handle that holds shave cream. It's too bad Gillette doesn't just intro the aforementioned Guard in the Western World, but I understand that to do so would literally "cannibalize" their more expensive lines as the Guard is IMO the best modern disposable extant. I can get a great shave with a Guard and use one sometimes for buffing under the nose.

This razor was specifically designed for people with special needs, who require assistance for their daily needs, one of which is shaving.

It might be funny for many members here, but I bet that this product is actually very helpful for some groups of people.

If you had a person with special needs in your family, you wouldn't find that a joke. My uncle suffers from dementia and my aunt struggles everyday to shave him. I've seen the whole process. It's a mess most of the times. I had to help her once. I saw how good he felt in his eyes when he was finally clean shaven. It's not as easy as you might think, you can't shave someone else with the same ease and safety you shave yourself. Most of the people face difficulties on this.

We should encourage companies to make such products and not make fun of them. Just my humble opinion. Most of the products in our world are designed for the majority, which is people with no special needs. Grooming is no exception. I wish this product was available in more countries.

If you can, I'm referring to all the artisan makers and machinists, make a better product for people that have down syndrome, elders that suffer from parkinson or other disabilities and need someone else to always be there for them, instead of making fun of it.

You know what, I'm just an idiot and didn't realize what they meant by "shave someone else". Of course you're right. I'm sorry.

No worries, I wasn't referring to you personally anyway. I think I made it clear in my last sentence. My post has multiple recipients. I call all artisans and machinists in this hobby who think they can make a better product than this to... start their engines and work some magic. That would be awesome.

I read about this razor some time ago and I was truly fascinated. Gillette US posted some videos on their official Instagram page back then.

edit. I just found this very interesting video on Youtube.

A few years ago there was a member of another forum who was talking about needing a DE handle that he could still grip despite pretty advanced arthritis. I started working on it and I forget exactly why, but the project stalled. I'd be open to creating some adaptations to help wet shavers with minor disabilities. But for people with more severe disabilities or those who need another person, this product looks tough to beat. This is especially true considering that I'm sure most of the target audience is price-sensitive.

I am among the baby boomer generation, approaching my 70th birthday in the coming months. I love shaving with straight razors and DE razors. However, I realize that one day I won't have the motor skills to use those tools anymore. Initially, I will have to go back to using a cartridge razor or an electric shaver. However, if I live even longer, I know that one day someone else will have to shave me. Thus, I am thankful that a company like Gillette would consider making a product for caregivers to use on those those for whom they care. It is not just the elderly who have that need, but anyone who lacks the physical or mental capacity to shave themselves safely. Such a product might even have utility in hospitals as a single-use razor.
