Hello!

I have tried to find info on these two razor but I could not find enough comparisons to tilt in favor of either version. Thought I'd try my luck here. Out of those who have tried both versions (old version with 12 nibs and newversion with 17 nibs on the safety bar), do you find any difference in how they shave? Is one smoother or more comfortable than the other? More efficient perhaps?

Appreciate all the input I can get.

I have tried both, and prefer the second generation Clog Pruf with 17 nibs over the first generation with 12 nibs.  To me it is smoother yet just as efficient; closer in performance to the Flying Wing / Bullet Tip.

I have never used a GEM, but they look cool as Hell.

I think that the old DE and SE razors just have better industrial design than the newer stuff. Some of the old Shick injectors are really cool too.

Sorry for taking things off topic.

I went down the GEM rabbit hole a couple of years or so ago, and I agree with draebeard that the Peerless, the 17-nib version, is smoother. I had both at the same time and while still learning technique with the GEMs (especially under the nose), the 17-nib was so much smoother than the 13-nib version. In fact, I shaved with the Peerless just this past Sunday and had a beautiful shave!

Here is something a gent put together on another site. I find it very useful!
